yeah, why would you have bought Tracktion if you didn't like clips? That'd be like buying Doom, but wishing it was a platform game.haydxn wrote:Tracktion would become a far lesser program if it ditched clips. It would not be tracktion any more, and would be a terrible 'feature' to 'add'.
What more features are you hoping for?

Basic, but thats all. I think itd be nice to have trim and stuff... Exporting to an external editor though is fine, and almost exactly the same imho

It's OK - Beno confirmed in one of these threads that the Clip-based approach is very much here to stayhaydxn wrote:Tracktion would become a far lesser program if it ditched clips. It would not be tracktion any more, and would be a terrible 'feature' to 'add'.

Why leave it at basic? I don't understand your rationale for disagreeing on a more complete editor built-in. What's the downside, besides Jules' time to implement? You ask people what they'd like, and give an inane response because... why? I can't comprehend itrpc9943 wrote:Basic, but thats all. I think itd be nice to have trim and stuff... Personally, I want beat mapping and time stretching improvements, and a better way to browse for loops and clips.
I'd also like a feature to give any newly imported clip a unique color so you don't have to do it manually.
I'd also like a 'notes' feature for each track (so you can document the patches for a ReWire track, for example) and a general log for each project.

not everyone works as you do maybe...i often get zillion of little audio slices..and i don't want to get mad goin through 2 different apps zillion of times..
plus at the moment tracktion doesn't update its audio clips when they are edited in an external editor...
why some little more scares you so much ?

its exactly it, jules doesnt have time to implement, and things like midi editor etc are better to work at at least for now instead of bloat, imho

Two points about the audio editing idea:
1] Other sequencers (i.e. Cubase/Sonar/Live don't come with full-on audio editing of the type Audition/SoundForge/WaveLab provide. It would be odd for Tracktion to go too far down this route... and I would hate to see it try to emulate what those programs do and fail. It would lead to bad publicity for Tracktion in general.
2] It would also be a shame to see Tracktion develop into something bloated. Adding lots of features can undermine what is great about a program in the first place. There are plenty of examples of this which I'm sure you know
Generally I don't expect full-on editing anyway, so I hope you guys don't get too disappointed.

The question wasn't 'what features do you think should take priority' but 'what features are you hoping for'. Try and be less of a turd if you can, eh?

I wouldn't expect it either, nor is it my request. But damnit, can't we let a man dream?headquest wrote:Two points about the audio editing idea:

Most of what I wanted has already been announced, so what hasn't is mostly details for me:
Possibility to have more than 9 markers and, more importantly, to be able to rename them to something sensible.
Beefed up, as in more stable, project management.
Possibility to lock snap resolution of the piano roll independently of the zoom resolution. Mind you I would like just an option to do that and not to get rid of the zoom/snap relashionship entirely.
Tackywrapper implemented as is, but with the added possibility of turning preview off once started
A complete manual. If you need inspiration, just look at the manual for Sony Vegas.
Fix the Acuma preset management bug please
.
A modifier key to permit copying a note just by sliding it to a new location instead of moving.
Add velocity modulation to groove template.
Filter very short note duration, or possibility to delete notes in a midi clip based on duration.
I'm shure I'll think of others later on...

Actually I think I would like project management as simple and straightforward as Adobe Audition's. I personally don't like having a reference to every export I make, because usually I have changed it or moved it somewhere else... It's kind of annoying doing a simple job, those references in the project window can add up quick...
