Like I already said, I noticed that Live 12.2 was running a bit snappier and was noticeably more stable than the previous versions on my machine (MBP M1 pro). If they improved that on 12.3, it's a dream.
Indeed! On my M1 MacBook Pro 15 Gb Ram machine it now takes 5 seconds to boot, where it used to take me about 15 seconds with 12.2. now it´s on par with bitwig, or even better.

Is there any trick anyone can think of so that I could increase the framerate in Ableton Live 12? It just feels really, really weird coming to Live after Bitwig, Reaper, or FL Studio, which all have significantly higher framerate overall. I am guessing but Bitwig and everyone else are so smooth as if it has 60fps or more.

Just scrolling in session or looking at the playhead in Live makes me nauseous after such ghosting as if it has less than 30fps.

Note: no issues in performance of any kind, it's just that this always irritated me, that super slow framerate of all screens, including the spectrum analyzer of EQ, session playback, etc. As if I were in 1990.

I am on Windows, and I have a sense (after watching some YouTube videos) that Live performs nicer visually on Mac?

From one of the Live devs on the new "Paste bounce audio" feature (source : Live's official discord) :
Btw, this feature has a really interesting quirk in it… you can copy a region, bounce as paste, and the selected region will be maintained… which allows you to immediate tweak the source material and paste again without recopying. Very useful for quickly pasting lots of different variations.
I know it's a niche feature but I think this level of attention to detail is amazing

While I can’t seem to find anything, it should be at 60fps, not 30. I’m on Mac, and wouldn’t be able to help solve it, but it could be worthwhile sending a support ticket in.

Ableton just keeps on giving between major versions. Thank you Ableton.

Also, I don't know am I'm imagining it now or did not focus on this before, but it seems that most of my VST3 plugins have parameter mappings already revealed automatically. Previously, I had to arm and move parameters in order for Live to "pick" them. Maybe I am imagining this.
This behavior has always been customizable through an options.txt, you can choose how many parameters it automaps, up to 128, and if it automaps if the plugin has more than the limit, so for example you could set 32 and it would automap the first 32 of any plugin, or just map plugins with up to 32 parameters.

It isn't. On PC it is barely 30fps. And as I noticed, you just confirmed it. I noticed Live videos done on Mac are better looking (when it comes to motion and frames).

I did take a look today, and I was able to find people asking about the very same issue on Reddit or abletoin forums such as this one:

https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?t=244092

I am having exactly the same issue. For example, my FabFilter EQ is butter smooth in Ableton Live, I mean the plugin itself is 60+ fps - You can totally see that in analyzer, curves etc. but Live in itself (under that I mean solely Live and its effects and instruments and playhead) is barely 30fps. I think it is even lower. And then whenever I see Live video done on Mac, I couldn't stop noticing how smoother the experience is.

Unrelated to Live but related to Max for Live - I contacted the Fors devs and Encoder audio devs after seeing some of their videos and reporting that my loading times are much longer, and their brief report was something along the lines of MaxForLive technically runs 100% same on Windows, but on Mac it performs better for some reason.

Honestly, after years of shenanigans, I was and am considering Mac solely to try out Live on it.

Hey now, I haven’t confirmed anything. I’m going to see if I can’t get more info from someone knowledgeable on the Windows side of things. I’ve seen so many different experiences and it might just differ from machine to machine, but again I absolutely, wholeheartedly do not know! :hihi:

Thanks. Yesterday I was browsing more on the issue. Turns out, only recently in Live 12.,2 they added GPU rendering on Windows. https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/artic ... gs-Windows

And it's a dead cow. Not that, but when I turn it off, I have slightly more FPS. And on Mac apparently, they use something more advanced (Metal or something) -long story short, I don't think there's a solution to this on Windows.

If you know something, that would be great.

You can change max frame rate in Options.txt. For example I have:

-MaxUiFrameRateHz=240

On mac this definitely does increase the maximum frame rate noticeably. Although if Windows is struggling to even render at 30fps maybe this won't make a difference.

just kinda stating this bc I feel like there's a lot of ppl like me who appreciate ableton but don't like its pdc issues -

the copy and paste bounced audio feature will likely make this super easy to work around with whatever your trying to do. I feel like a YouTube creator really should pick up and run with this in one of their videos when 12.3 releases im just saying. but I also kinda don't bc they still should fix it lol.

You might need to reset Live.

The new version should be fast, so resetting should fix that for you.
