Just got it downloading here. FWIW in the UK my receipt said it cost me £154.83 GBP for the direct download upgrade from the Spectrasonics site.
Advises 122 GB space for the initial install too though I imagine some will be reclaimed afterwards.
Download speed seems a bit throttled at around 65 MB per sec.

Well whaddaya know! Cool idea to quietly jump the gun this time to stagger the demand. I've ordered a physical copy, will probably be a few days yet for me.Stan Navi wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 4:31 pm It is already available for buy and download on Spectrasonics site.

We are definitely lost in translation here. Maybe my initial post wasn't clear enough although I tried to make it as coherent as possible.IvyBirds wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 4:28 pm It's really not that hard any ownership of an Upgrade requires a base product that was not an upgrade
The plugin's value or worth is not relevant in this discussion.
I'm only asking for the right to transfer my product for whatever reason.

Thankfully it's letting me upgrade - in my case I have bought 2 versions of Omnisphere as upgrades from Atmosphere but that was a transfer so even now they still class the licence as NFR and I was worried from some comments that they would no longer allow an upgrade path

Omnisphere FX is sounding great, but i just realized that it can contain only 4 FX per instance.

It literally just become available within the last hour or so, and wasn't supposed to be available until tomorrow.fisherKing wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 5:18 pm this thread is 31 pages, and no one has v3 up-&-running yet. amazing! (and looking forward to actual 'in use' comments..)..

Did anyone get a chance to do a quick compatibility check by loading their Omnisphere 2 based DAW projects?
I hope I didn't ask too early.
Thanks in advance.

When I mean “low budget,” I mean “not HBO style” prestige TV with full orchestral production, Ala Game Of Thrones. I’m also talking about the one-finger-song style of presets, like the original Wavestation Ski Jam preset.zvenx wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 4:14 pmExcept of course when omnisphere first came out you could hear a lot of its presets in many Prime Time TV shows on networks not just low budget tv shows..zerocrossing wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 2:15 pm ...
I find this conversation to be weird. There's nothing that forces anyone to use or even audition presets. I mostly ignore all the presets, as I find it very easy to come up with my own sounds. When I have checked out their presets, they seem to be largely "synth seller" presets that seem to be perfect for soundtrack work, but little else. Fun to check out, but I wonder who would use them, outside someone making a low budget TV show.
When I get most synths or preset banks I like to go thru the presets and favourite the ones I like.
I rarely go back to the ones which aren't favourited... makes my work flow significantly quicker with the quick turn around I have to do deliver to clients...I haven't with omnisphere (probably the only synth I have that allows favouriting that I haven't, because its just too much.
I am not all saying or suggesting they don't add more patches or it has too many, just for me it becomes overwhelming and clearly I am not alone.
rsp
I don’t even mean that to be pejorative. I’ve used many a preset when working on a commercial project where you have a client who wants to hear 6 different takes on something by tomorrow. If I had to do all the sound design and composition, I’d never get it done. Don’t think many unedited presets get into the final product, but they’re great starting points.
But when I’m working on my own stuff, I’m a lot less likely to use a preset. Not for any moral high ground, but because I enjoy that aspect of making music.

Just got mine up and running. Couldn't get the hardware thing to work with my Hydrasynth. The one plugged in right now is the Explorer but thought it would recognise something like one of the filter knobs oh well, will RTFM at some point on that.
So install of the upgrade turned out to be exactly as stated and thankfully detected the existing STEAM library install (NB for newbies, this is not the same as Steam gaming folders). I have been left with 62GB of install data on my drive which I assume I can delete but not in a mad rush as I wiped off a lot more space than I needed just in case.
Just going through a bunch of the Analog Vibes presets and they are pretty lovely.
Anyone who knows their classic rock needs to check out the not so subtly named "Who Fooled Whom" preset in there, hold down a C then alternate between also holding higher G and C notes.

The net already exploded. But I've not seen actual vids uploaded about the product itself other than the release vid.
