Thanks mate, that helps. I can live with a recall - it's even the best option IMO. But I could not live with setting it new with each startup.noiseboyuk wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 10:08 pm There is a setting to optionally recall the previous state, but that's all. There's no way to set a permanent default.

That's a good idea - the only issues there is that third party patches also live in there, and that will make the browsing experience much more messy now.jbraner wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 5:41 pmEDIT - I still think that "whatever category/folder" + user is something that might make everybody happy![]()
I think there's two things they could implement that would improve things considerably.
SHIFT CLICK TO ADD CATEGORIES
If you are in Analog Vibes and want to add user patches to your searches, just shift click User Directories. Shift click as many as you want. Regular click resets (same as browser behaviour).
CUSTOM VIEWS
This is, I think, the best we can hope for in this brave new world. Group together any directories / libraries you like - have, say, 8 sets.
Here's a crude mockup, where it might sit next to View All at the bottom. So Classic Synths could be the first trio in the browser - Analog Vibes, Classic Digital and Retro Vibes, useful even if you just own Omni 3. Spectrasonics Xtra could be Moog, Trilian, Keyscape, Sonic Extensions - everything not in Omni 3, which all share the same tagging.
And at the bottom, the big prize - Legacy Tags would be all that PLUS the Omni 2 legacy patches PLUS all the third party libraries. Essentially the Omni 2 experience within Omni 3.
Everyone is happy?

I bought the upgrade. Arriving tomorrow and I am very excited for it. Looks awesome.
But I have some (very selfish) disappointment that my three (personal) hopes aren’t there: hardware profile for the very knobby 3rd Wave, hardware profile for multi-page roto-control, and the ability to set loop points for user samples.

so, i finally got my V3 code.
The mail i got was weird, to say the least.
I mean, they are completly meshugge.
the text literally said: we have aproven your special circumstances and give you as a good and loyal customer as a very special personal offer a free upgrade. Here is your code.......don´t tell anybody.
Boy, I BOUGHT: "Spectrasonics 3 - Boxed" (that´s what the shops page says)
There was NO mention of spectrasoncis 2 in that deal.
What was sold to me was literally old stock OmniS-V2 - boxed.....+ that super minimal sticker patched onto the box.
/ Rant
ok, at least i have it now, and it is installed.
Now to the fun part..........
sorry for posting that crap ! but i just had to

Yes, 3 disappointments for you. But anyway, the HW profiles are disappointing for many, since they just go on the parameters on the mainpage. I have tested it with a Hydrasynth and I think they could have made more out of that. You are still able to map the MIDI parameters for yourself and in the best case is way more sufficient than Spectrasonics will ever deliver.Phil B wrote: Thu Oct 23, 2025 12:45 am I bought the upgrade. I don't have the upgrade yet, but when I'm looping samples for other softsynths, I use Wavosaur. I was surprise to find that Audacity can't add loop point metadata to samples. It works fine, with a little practice, and it's free. I can't help you with the other two issues.Phil B wrote: Thu Oct 23, 2025 12:45 am I bought the upgrade. I have the update up and running, and just tried the hardware integration with my UB-Xa. It's amazingly well done! OSC 1 and 2 map to sections A and B. Activating Saw or Pulse waves auto chooses the corresponding OB-X waveforms in the corresponding section in Omnisphere. Choosing the 2-pole or 4-pole filters likewise choses the OB 2 and 4 pole filters. Everything in the LFO section does what you would expect it to, including auto-setting targets when you activate PWM targets for the LFO. Noise maps to Section D with the noise waveform.
Very fun.
Very fun.

Now that I've had a few solid hours to play with this, my biggest complaints are the lack of drag&drop MSEGs, and no macro knobs. These are basic quality of life features in most modern synths.
Still a great synth, it'll get lots of use, but having those two additions would have really set it over the top.

This is just the initial release of V3. Spectrasonics is well known for keeping Omnisphere up to date with free updates. I'm more than confident they will improve some workflow issues & irritants, technical improvements and even more new features along the way. Omnisphere 3 is here to stay with us for many years to come
Enjoy this beast!

This is exactly what’s stopping me upgrade. It would seem silly to many users here but modulation in Omnisphere just feels cumbersome compared to my other synths.billinder33 wrote: Thu Oct 23, 2025 1:56 am Now that I've had a few solid hours to play with this, my biggest complaints are the lack of drag&drop MSEGs, and no macro knobs. I’ll still enjoy Omnisphere 2 as it is, but don’t want to invest more money into a synth I find annoying to use at a very basic level, when I have plenty of other good options.

Definitely understand this sentiment. It's like the designers only built the system from the perspective of a keyboard performer and never considered that users might want to drive it directly from the DAW or via an alternative controller like a Push or Linnstrument.jobinho wrote: Thu Oct 23, 2025 2:23 amThis is exactly what’s stopping me upgrade. It's a shame because so much of it is top notch - the lib, the filters, the FX, all the excellent sounding oscillator shaping options. Being able to control all this like you can in Serum or Phaseplant would be a dream.

yeah...i dont get their rationale here...once you decided to open it up to user samples, ur already opening up competition to 3rd party designers...why not add a full pcm implementation?...ur adding key and velocity splits now...avenger and synthmaster added full pcm implementations this year...they say "we don't want to be kontakt"...why?...that's where halion, falcon, and MSF have been heading...that's where the competition, all the hybrid flagships are heading...that's the logical end state...weird
Music had a one night stand with sound design.....And the condom broke
