Seems like a giant pain the ass just to shoehorn something into Omnisphere it's not intended to do.

Honestly if you are sitting on folders full of Accordion Multi-samples why would do this rather than just import them into a tool that is designed to use them?

am not sure i need it personally, but there's been a lot of interest in this as an option, and sometimes it's deeply rewarding to find a workaround to do something one wants to do. no harm in that

I never said there was harm in it, just that it's a giant pain in the ass versus just using the right tool for the job

If Spectrasonics were to add multi-sample import it would make some people happy sure, but until that day ACTUALLY happens and you have multi-samples other tools would be a better choice

The funny thing is though, that Omnisphere actually IS intended to do this - The factory library uses multi-samples all over the place. They just didn't create a UI for it. This way of dragging multiple samples in at once, which creates a folder, and then just editing the key range in a text editor, is pretty straight forward. It doesn't take much more time than if you were able to set the note ranges within the plugin interface. Like I said before, even just being able to set a few samples over the note ranges is pretty useful, especially for granular.

The factory library sure, but it's not intended to import user multi-samples. Eric Persing had said so many times

Yeah this is great. Was very surprised, when I heard it the first time. Scripting XML-file is not what I would prefer though. We‘ll see if there really some tools are going to appear.

Hi, sorry for the technical question, but is it better to uninstall Omnisphere 2 before installing the upgrade to version 3 or to keep it installed ? I don't need version 2 anymore.

I would probably say it's better to keep the old O2 installation intact and install over it. That way your settings and things will be as you expect them.

Upgrading just replaces the plugin. Continues to work as the same plugin but is V3.

FWIW - I only installed the VST3 version this time (trying to wean off of VST2 plugins) and Reaper just automatically loads the VST3 version of Omnisphere - an a "work in progress" that's using Omnisphere.

installed OM3, and spent the day with it (my first omnisphere experience).

it's pretty great; easy to get around, lots of great sounds, lots of options to modify those sounds. have already replaced previous plugins on one project, and it sounds pretty amazing.

now i just have about 16,850 more presets to check out...

are the legacy presets used throughout the different libraries, or are they only available under the 'legacy libraries' heading? just wondering if i need to go there as well.

The Legacy presets from Omnisphere 2 are only in the Legacy library

Many of them have been reworked or "remastered" as Spectrasonics calls it with new effects and other tweaks that take advantage of the new features, those will be in the regular non legacy libraries

Honestly unless you have older projects that were made with Omnisphere 2 that you need the older legacy patches for, there is really no reason to explore them

thanks, good to know... as i estimate i'll need about 250 hours to go thru the library without the legacy stuff

A quick tip in case some of you don't know: you can filter for only new Omnisphere 3 sound sources by typing '3.0' in the search box of the Sound Browser.
