Absynth, as anyone whose opinion is worth the gum on the bottom of my shoe knows, is one of NI's flagship, foundational products. That's the reason we are having this conversation right now, and the fact that it wasnt updated is another black eye for NI. The PE nonsense happened in a couple phases, and NI's decision to part ways with him(Brian) was part of a series of unfortunate decisions made by NI up to today. Not sure what the above is about.DashOfLime wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 6:35 amAbsynth 5 came out in 2010. The PE takeover happened in 2020. Absynth 5 was killed in 2022. A bit hard to say that the PE folks "let Brian C go" when Absynth hadn't been updated in the 10 years before they took overMilkman wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 1:47 am Now NI, despite being ingested by some nasty PE ghouls who immediately crapped out many good product offerings, killed Absynth and let Brian C go
These reactions are always so weird. It's a company, not a way of life. At this point who f**king cares what happened. Clearly someone changed their mind and v6 is coming out soon and the original developer is involved.
I hope Reaktor is next as it could use some love.
Its an instrument, and we all know what instruments are to real musicians - a way of life. Do you think its anything less? Do you think instruments are just 'apps' that we rent from corporations, who expire them every few years to make sure we buy the next thing? If so, we wont and cant agree.
