Absynth 5 came out in 2010. The PE takeover happened in 2020. Absynth 5 was killed in 2022. A bit hard to say that the PE folks "let Brian C go" when Absynth hadn't been updated in the 10 years before they took over 😂

These reactions are always so weird. It's a company, not a way of life. At this point who f**king cares what happened. Clearly someone changed their mind and v6 is coming out soon and the original developer is involved.

I hope Reaktor is next as it could use some love.
Absynth, as anyone whose opinion is worth the gum on the bottom of my shoe knows, is one of NI's flagship, foundational products. That's the reason we are having this conversation right now, and the fact that it wasnt updated is another black eye for NI. The PE nonsense happened in a couple phases, and NI's decision to part ways with him(Brian) was part of a series of unfortunate decisions made by NI up to today. Not sure what the above is about.

Its an instrument, and we all know what instruments are to real musicians - a way of life. Do you think its anything less? Do you think instruments are just 'apps' that we rent from corporations, who expire them every few years to make sure we buy the next thing? If so, we wont and cant agree.

The first PE injection actually happened in 2013. That's when Stephan Schmitt left.

I think that's the point. Trying to figure out if this is just pandering to a disillusioned consumer base or if the changes go deeper. We'll see.

It would be hilarious though if v6 would just come with a new scalable UI and a bunch of new presets and update price 99 dollar  But seriously though. I feel a slight hope.
That would suck, but it seems doubtful that they'd do that. I'd be happy if they did a scaleable UI, added a few of their modern filter algorithms and maybe upped the overall content.

Sure, as artists we bond with our tools. We both shape them and are shaped by them. That said, Absynth 5 didn't disappear when it was discontinued, just like my G&L Skyhawk didn't disappear when Leo Fender died, or recently when the company closed its doors. I run 3 monitors on my system, two 4ks for the DAW and modern stuff, and one old one for old plugins that no longer scale. If you're telling me that Absynth 5 doesn't work on your new Apple laptop, that's on you. It's common knowledge that Apple has a poor track record with backwards compatibility.

Oh no, you said the A-word. Now the flame wars begin. :box:

Excited for this update. A little worried about all my existing projects though. The version of Absynth currently installed on my PC is 5.3.4 (R59). The only version for Windows that can be downloaded from NI website is 5.3.1.

Anyone knows how to get its hands on the 5.3.4 (R59) Windows installer before that version can't be installed using NI Access anymore? (I will need it for instance to reinstall my next PC and safe access to old projects.)

Post

You should be fine either way. Micro version updates don't change the file format, so even if you used 5.3.4 in your projects, 5.3.1 should be able to open them.

Mmm... Ok... If the 5.3.1 installer published in 2015 can work its magic on Windows 11, I'm golden. Thanks.

Wouldn't it be nice and toasty to get the last 5.x installer, though, just in case? :help:

Nevermind. I just reinstalled Absynth 5 and caught the zip archive downloaded by NI Access before it was deleted. I feel better now. Just... Don't pay attention... :ud: :D

1 day after my doctor's appointment when he tells me that I'm all healed up from my accident. It will definitely be a party and I am gonna celebrate big time.

I hope there is some type of intro price, or maybe a discount depending how many NI products I already own.

How many breakpoints are you gonna use? I’ll probably use a whole 2fer (24).
