Our user stats for our synth plugins confirm this. Reason is slightly more popular than Bitwig:

1. FLStudio
2. Ableton
3. Studio One
4. Reaper
5. Logic
6. Cubase
7. Cakewalk
8.Reason
9. Bitwig
10. ProTools
Reaper & Studio One are ahead of Logic & Cubase? That surprises me, to be honest. Thanks for sharing the info.
Re-read that chart. Reason is not ahead of any of these.

I suspect a free/cheap 'Reason Rack' incoming as a shopfront for Rack/Re stuff...makes sense to me.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

In terms of Landr, they look like deep pockets, jumping into multiple areas to "corner" a customer in their ecosystem, it's possible Reason has been on their radar for a while, since a DAW is the only missing piece here.
By that logic, anything is possible, of course. Look, honestly, I wouldn't want them to close their doors. But I am not going to pretend this is some good news either, and my ground for that is experience with Reason Studios and their superb "navigation" and release track. Remember the "new" and improved browser. It was so good that they had to reshape it just half a year later.

And I still can not move it to my second screen. Unbelievable.

Anyway, perhaps LANDR has some better steering. We will see, but realistically, one can expect nothing major until the Q3 of this year.

Yes, but this is actually a point for Reason being a terrible DAW.

Reason was released in November 2000. Bitwig was released in 2014. It's a 14-year advantage over Bitwig, and they are worse than the currently completely absurd Cakewalk with their own shenanigans.

That would make sense. It’s an obvious home for the generative tools like Orb: there are already plenty of RE note and CV generators.

Does anyone know, who owns LANDR?

LANDR is owned by its parent company, MixGenius, and is led by Founder & CEO Pascal Pilon, who, along with other co-founders like Justin Evans and Yannick Gouez, built the AI-powered music platform, with investment and backing from music industry players like Sony, Shure, and Warner, and recent growth fueled by European firm Verdane.
Key Owners & Leadership:
Pascal Pilon: Co-Founder and current CEO, driving the company's vision.
MixGenius: The parent AI company that developed LANDR.
Investors: Support from established music companies and investors like Plus Eight and Slaight.
Verdane: A European growth equity firm that was a major investor in Reason Studios, which LANDR recently acquired, further solidifying its backing.
Founding & Growth:
Founded in 2012 by Pascal Pilon and other co-founders, LANDR became a leader in AI-driven music mastering and creation.
The company has raised significant funding (like a $26M Series B) to expand its services, which include distribution, samples, and plugins, notes BetaKit and PR Newswire.

Frankly IDGAF about reason, or who owns them. Only a handful of DAWs are privately owned, Ableton, Renoise, Bitwig, Reaper....

A consortium of VCs and media companies like Sony and Warner Music.

Landr Studio is $144.00, Reason is $499 or $20 per month. Maybe this will make Reason more accessible. I guess Warner is on a spending spree because didn't they just buy Suno?

There's a LANDR blog post from a week ago with the 10 best DAWs for 2026 and Reason isn't included:

Whoa... they got Reason?? I haven't even been a Reason customer in decades but..
Damn. LANDR is some "AI" slop company if im not mistaken, and this probably spells the end for old Reason. I have a soft spot in my heart for propellerheads Reason, as it was one of my very first music tools along with Rebirth.

Bummer. : (

I didn't care about Reason 48 hours ago, and I don't care about them now, which is exactly how most people here feel if we are honest

I use Cubase as my DAW of choice and it's produced by Steinberg which is part of Yamaha, the likelihood of it going the way of the dodo is very slim and if it does, there are plenty of other options

i see it same. The market will develope sooner or later exactly towards "that".
