Ah, that`s why I did not go beyond v6.5, the license is as described earlierdastewart wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 11:03 pmer...no, it's still just a year of updates/upgrades from whenever you buy.Shalotta wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 6:25 pm Lost interest after v6 but v6->v8 is appealing,
is v8 now some sort of "back to the roots" licensing,
you have your regular Pro license + v8.x cycle updates until v9 pops up?
and I`m not familiar with the (to me) new system.
So if I get you right,
Fender continues the v7 system & users have to go subscription to get updates after 1yr.
It`s not a Sony, it`s a trick like with v7 which wasn`t.dastewart wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 11:03 pm I'm still on v6 and didn't find a single useful feature in v7 (so didn't upgrade). V8 (which should really be v7.5) seems to add nothing to the party except a new name.
I can`t comment on this but upgrade price is ok for maintenance.dastewart wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 11:03 pm I appreciate that everybody works differently so maybe some people will find some of the things useful but v8 just seems to be aimed at beginners and casual users and is solving problems that just don't exist.

That's almost tempting me to upgrade to W11.Fornicras wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 9:33 pmYes, it's W11. I didn't think it was Windows related.Propstar wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 8:58 pmIs that W11? On W10 here it's still white at the top.Fornicras wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 8:09 pm
A very welcome change is the black top bar on Windows: https://imgur.com/ZEohP0i (https://imgur.com/ZEohP0i)
The ugly white bar was bothering me so much that I always used full screen mode (which has its own problems, like you can't alt + tab in full screen)
Almost.

In your case, stupid because you can't separate a matter of taste from practicality.
Or you could just work on them in Studio One, which is even easier for you, as well as Presonus. It's not up to them to facilitate every stupid workflow every idiot on the planet can think of.MacGyver wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 1:36 pmWould be nice, if Fender / Presonus will add Mustang Native and also Studio Verb to the Presonus Hub... Then you could use those in other DAWs, too, and export/import project via dawproject format. Or maybe even all of Studio Pro plugins, so you could 1:1 load the song into other DAWs, including all the fx.
That's hardly the Linux spirit now, is it? Isn't it all about the community getting behind these things and helping to make them stable and complete? Most Linux software never gets beyond version 0.9x in my experience, it stays in beta forever.audiojunkie wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 6:00 pmIs there ANYONE that has tried the Linux version? I know it’s in beta, so I’m not interested in purchasing right now, without knowing how stable or complete it is.
I had to open Studio One to even see what you were talking about. Then I had to open a few other applications to see how they looked. What a completely inconsequential thing to have in second place on your list. You can't be concentrating terribly hard on what you're doing to even notice that (I hadn't in 5+ years of daily use).Fornicras wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 8:09 pmA very welcome change is the black top bar on Windows. Now this is something I am sure I'd notice if it had ever been any kind of issue but I find even the tiniest font size, the lightest font weights, render perfectly on my PC, whether it's the 27" monitor I plug it into to the Legion Go's own 8.8" screen. But fonts are looking weird; this was always a problem with Studio One on Windows, though.
I've remembered what the font rendering utility is called. Hit your Windows key, then type "cleartype" and it will come up. It only takes a few minutes and it might help. But I'd be keen to see a screenshot, because text looks fantastic here. Look at it, even the tiniest piece of text is clear and readable. e.g. The word "Bars" under the clock on the bottom tool bar - even with the image loaded into the forum and reduced in size, I can still read it easily.
Section of a 27", 2.5k screen.
Poor choice of monitor, not Presonus's fault.Plugins GUI revamp is good but they cannot be resized manually at all, just like before. They look so tiny in 4K resolution.
Why? I find it very usable. It's easy to find anything I'm looking for. Seriously, what's wrong with it? I use it for adding instruments and effects, for finding and previewing samples from lots of different places and occasionally for loading things like MIDI files or tracks from other projects and it seems perfectly fit for purpose to me.Browser is the same, worst browser ever.
Do you think that's really a thing? I call bullshit on it, unless maybe you are sitting up in bed, working in your DAW. I can work on my PC right up until I go to bed or not look at a screen all night and it makes absolutely no difference to how quickly I can get to sleep or how well I sleep.havran wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 9:27 pmI understand that's part of their branding so the the DAW is recognizable in photos and videos, but I would also like to tame that, because I'm trying to reduce blue-light exposure.
Anyway, who'd be a f**king software developer? What a whiny bunch of unappreciative c**ts we are. People seem to think that if you pay money for a product, you somehow own the company that makes it.

I love the Studio One browser - much better than the one in Bitwig - at least you know where to find things and it has the best plugin manager of any DAW imho

Has anyone noticed variance in the cpu hit? I'm still on S1 6.
The audio to midi conversion alone is enticing enough for me seriously consider updating. A hundred bucks or less from resellers is very reasonable.

That's exactly what the horizontal channel strip at the bottom does but in a much nicer way. Just wait till Nektar CS12 is ported to Studio Fender Studio Pro, its gonna be great...BONES wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 5:11 amWhy not? For most plugins, it means you never have to open the plugin window. With ProEQ, you can even manipulate the curves in the graph from the mini-view. How is that not a great time-saver? Moreover, how is being able to see your plugin settings right in the mixer not a huge boon to production in general?jamcat wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 3:10 amThat way, Micro view would never open unless I actually want it to. Which is never.

No. Completely different licence track. You upgrade perpetual - you are perpetual.havran wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 11:23 pm If one upgrades to the Fender Pro 8 perpetual license, does one subsequently get a discount on the Plus subscription?
Pro+ (Sub) has nothing to with it.

And in your case, you seem to think that whatever you say is objective fact. It isn't. You're just a bellend. The browser is, though, very good so we agree on that pointBONES wrote: Sun Jan 18, 2026 12:22 amIn your case, stupid because you can't separate a matter of taste from practicality.Or you could just work on them in Studio One, which is even easier for you, as well as Presonus. Excellent comeback, I am completely convinced now of the correctness of everything you've said. BTW, is there some reason you felt the need to quote the entire post when yours was just the very top bit? It's hard enough to read through these things without lazy shit like that.
No, it's not doing anything even close to the same because it's taking you out of the mixer. The mixer is where you work, it's the centre of the process. The less time you spend outside it, the better.heliacal wrote: Sun Jan 18, 2026 2:32 amThat's exactly what the horizontal channel strip at the bottom does but in a much nicer way..

This feature was always available via Melodyne (essentials) which was bundled with S1. Just add Melodyne to the audio track and then drag it to an instrument track.nusound mind wrote: Sun Jan 18, 2026 2:31 am Has anyone noticed variance in the cpu hit? I'm still on S1 6.

I can only assume they've added this because going forward they don't want to bundle Melodyne with S1 but if you're on v6 I'm assuming you've got the essentials version of Melodyne.
Although, just thinking about it, Melodyne essentials is only monophonic. I've go the version which does polyphonic.

That´s one way of doing it... but it´s completely fine to have alternative ways of doing it...BONES wrote: Sun Jan 18, 2026 11:21 amNo, it's not doing anything even close to the same because it's taking you out of the mixer. You like working in the Mixer and yes it was especially designed for that... but different people, different tastes...
Just because the Mixer was made for that doesn´t exclude other ways or insists you are doing it wrong if you don´t use it... so what´s the problem if somebody is enjoying mixing without the Mixer as the arrangement gives at the very end the same options just in different places?
What matters is the result... not how you have achieved it...

All versions of Melodyne (including Essentials) can perform polyphonic detection. The more expensive versions can also perform polyphonic audio editing.dastewart wrote: Sun Jan 18, 2026 11:23 am Although, just thinking about it, Melodyne essentials is only monophonic. Nevermind. Went ahead and bought the update. Audio midi conversion works exceptionally well. The old Ohmicide still crashes S1 as it has in every version I've tried; aside from that, so far works great, no troubles at all. Still adjusting to the click - double click to open plugins from console.nusound mind wrote: Sun Jan 18, 2026 2:31 am Has anyone noticed variance in the cpu hit? I'm still on S1 6.

Going to look up new features introduced in S1 7 now to see if anything intriguing might've been added. Grabbed two updates for the price of less than one ( a third less as it was from 6 to 7).
Be it noted, a happy customer. (so far)
I never tried Melodyne, and now I don't have to as this is built right in, in one less step apparently as per your description. This feature was always available via Melodyne (essentials) which was bundled with S1. Just add Melodyne to the audio track and then drag it to an instrument track.

Not sure that's right as I don't remember having it until I'd upgraded to Editor and this chart from Celemony seems to confirm it.Crossinger wrote: Sun Jan 18, 2026 11:29 amAll versions of Melodyne (including Essentials) can perform polyphonic detection. You're suggesting that the more basic versions can "detect" but not "edit" but that isn't my recollection and I'm not sure how the blobs would be displayed if you can't edit them.
