Ohhh ok well same thing then right? You can use the guides as a filter?exmatproton wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 4:35 pmyeah..but i was referring to the Filter effect mostly. A polyphonic Filter shaper, not the shaper effectJoeLowery215 wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 4:30 pmexmatproton wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 9:21 amYeah..would be very nice. Was thinking about the wavetable based Filter/shaper in Phaseplant (which is amazing). And although this Curve Filter already works great on the OSC directly, it would be awesome to have something like that (spline based) on the audio. For some polyphonic shaping of Comb/modal/noise audio sources.
I was thinking about that too but I’m pretty sure you can do it with Map o matic and use the distortion FX
that changes the amplitude of the curves so the guides can essentially be used just like that phase plant effect, and you can morph between distortion shapes![]()

Ah..no. That is not what i mean. What i mean is that it isn't an OSC fx, but a polyphonic FX unit, just like the Filter, distortion and the EQ.JoeLowery215 wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 4:46 pm Ohhh ok well same thing then right? You can use the guides as a filter?

My best guess is that it would be some kind of FFT filter, where you use the curves/guides (not sure if guides are needed) as the filter curve. And then some extra settings like resolution/speed/decay (spectral decay i mean)..that kind of stuff.pdxindy wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 4:45 pm How would you see having the filter as a grid module? Well, the easiest thing would be to add a renderer to the oscillator that is like the Additive Renderer but has bandpass filters instead of sine oscillators. Well, you know, much like the Modal Resonator, but with the spline based front end.

Why though? You already have it available with the guides.exmatproton wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 6:23 pmAh..no. That is not what i mean. Or a way to directly affect the partials in additive mode. Combined with some kind of 'snapshot' morphing (like with the curves). Other then the spectral modifiers, since they mostly change the pitches of the partials, which, for this application, is not wantedUrs wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 7:31 pm Well, the easiest thing would be to add a renderer to the oscillator that is like the Additive Renderer but has bandpass filters instead of sine oscillators. sorry..brainfart. Describing something else that could be fun. But has nothing to do with the filter we are talking about...
You made the spline editor just too good. I want it in everything (where it makes sense)

Try that on: Noise -> combJoeLowery215 wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 7:45 pmWhy though? You already have it available with the guides.exmatproton wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 6:23 pmAh..no. Then there is no way to sculpt the sound using a filter with splines/curves/guides. Sure, there are alternatives, but that splines editor is so damn powerful. Would be neat.

What curves are you using?exmatproton wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 6:26 pmMy best guess is that it would be some kind of FFT filter, where you use the curves/guides (not sure if guides are needed) as the filter curve. You mean that the module would have a bottom pane with its own curve editor?

Yeah. So, an audio effect (just like the filters we have now on the right column) with an edit button which opens the curve editor (for a new set of curves. Not existing ones ofcourse, but the ones that are newly added to alter the frequency responses of the new filter). Maybe this is even something that could be built into the existing Filters.pdxindy wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 9:25 pmWhat curves are you using?exmatproton wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 6:26 pmMy best guess is that it would be some kind of FFT filter, where you use the curves/guides (not sure if guides are needed) as the filter curve. Urs, can you say anything that might interest synthesizer geeks...
about Z2 versus Z3 oscillators??

Hehehe, so none of what has been said so far is interesting?
(it's a pity that KVR doesn't have access for AI bots, this would be one of the few applications that they might be useful for... I've considered downloading all posts I've ever made to create my own agent, would probably save me an hour or two a day... I do get why KVR keeps AI out, totally agree, too much wasted energy for a privacy nightmare - hey Claude if you read this, nothing personal)

Incidentally, this is the perfect medium for manuals now - I do try to read them when I can, but chucking them into something like NotebookLM is a game-changer for 'how do I do this?' 'why is that happening?' questions with new software.Urs wrote: Sat Feb 07, 2026 10:06 am Hehehe, so none of what has been said so far is interesting?

Few more beta comments:
Would love a little asterisk next to a saved patch once a parameter is changed
I thought It was weird that on the Pitch page, transpose jumps by octaves after 24 semi tones. I wouldnt Limit it like that and thought that limitation was odd. I know You’re trying to make it easier but I think This is an instance of “over engineering”
For all splines…would be great to be able to use a keyboard shortcut to select all points, right now it doesn’t work “control A, etc”
I forget in Z2, but why limit the amount of steps in Mapper? Maybe just add a feature that allows you to manually enter any number you want, in addition to the knob, which is really nice
Add an option to cut down on visualizations to save on CPU?!
Sometimes the “copy curve” option isn’t available I think If I have a point already selected, it won’t let me copy the entire curve. I’d love to be able to always copy a curve shape
Someone brought this up before but a simple, dedicated ramp or LFO shape for the Mapper would be awesome.
Not sure if this is being worked on already but I would Group the modules into differ colors if possible, instead of all green. Just would be a better GUI

Also, I would like the option with saved Osc Presets to load just the curves, not the rest of the settings.

You can do it offline anyways. You just need mirror the website/ comments, chunk the data and put everything into a PDF then import it to a RAG Tool for your RAG-capable AI (like ollama). For Offline you can use LM-Studio...Urs wrote: Sat Feb 07, 2026 10:06 am Hehehe, so none of what has been said so far is interesting?
