Having a Guitar Branded and Focused DAW is a good business move as there really isn't one in the marketplaceSascha Franck wrote: Sat Feb 14, 2026 12:36 pmMost guys familiar with amp sim plugins would indeed rather use something else.mumpcake wrote: Sat Feb 14, 2026 11:32 am There are a few guitar guys saying that those plugs are useless to them too.
However, as far as this very, seemingly "guitar centric", incarnation of Studio One goes, we could just take a look at how all this came along:
Fender aquired Presonus. That deal obviously included Studio One.
A while ago, they came up with something that is in fact a very guitar centric DAW, namely Fender Studio. Which is free and available for Windows, macOS, iOS and even for Android. Say whatever you want, that is quite a nice thing to have.
Them being rooted in the guitar universe, it wasn't exactly a completely unexpected "stunt" that they added several amp models.
Now, all this is important to know to understand why they also added some guitar amps to Studio One: Because you can load the projects of the free version 1:1 in the paid version.
Say whatever you want, that is just great. It's kinda like what Apple does with Garageband, just that the Fender offering also covers Windows and Android.
So, no matter what anyone may think about the Fender aquisition, their idea to put something like this out (that is also aiming at guitar players) is quite decent, pretty much regardless of how you look at it.
Again Fender is a guitar brand so it makes sense for them to do so
However that wouldn't mean they would be a good fit to take over NI at a hypothetical bankruptcy sale
All one has to do is look at what they have done to Presonus where they took the flagship product and made it guitar focused
