George "improves the quality" and "makes it even more analog" and every 2 weeks and that's not blowing your mind??? :o
It's the new and improved version folks....

But wait....there's more

There was one minor bug fix recently and George thought that it was worthy enough to open a brand new listing....
No auto tune...

It's a pretty confusing explanation...

So you should ask the Bot....

Then you'll be really confused

I just watched that video and most, if not all, illustrations are AI-generated, with the telltale errors. I mean, look at the keyboards with three white keys in a row. It even shows a HPF illustrated as a LPF.
At this point, I wonder if DiscoDSP is not entirely run by AI.

Yeah, nearly 100 quid worth
What was it before? I don't remember it being particularly cheap to start with.
If I remember correctly, v7 to v8 upgrade was either $89 or $99. People were pissed off and many promised not to upgrade. I was one of them and there was 0% chance I would upgrade unless price dropped considerably. It wasn't until much later that upgrade showed up in my account for $49 and I did upgrade even though I pretty much gave up on this developer. I did like the synth.

That was the last money he will ever get from me, especially after changing licensing system without even telling us.

Yeah, this is the thing that hurts, it's not a bad vst on its own. But ignoring user requests, hardly changing anything, removing download links for the product we already paid for and removing the upgrade option before bringing it back as a limited time thing at a 30-50% price increase? Forgive me, but you can f**k off with that. And based on the fact that George hasn't posted about the latest update here, it seems that's just what he's done. Good riddance.

To clarify, the initial price of the Discovery Pro 7.x to 8.x update was $49. However, after the introduction of new features in the 8.x version later, the price was increased from $149 to $199, and the upgrade fee was set to $99. The upgrade window was closed approximately after three years from the 8.0 release, but it's reopened until June 2026.

The AI needs to stop hallucinating:

https://gearspace.com/board/new-product ... synth.html
As a token of appreciation to their loyal customers, those who purchased Discovery Pro 7 last December [2023] will receive a complimentary upgrade to Discovery Pro 8. For others, the upgrade from Discovery or Discovery Pro 7, 6 or 5 is available at a special price of $74.99.

That price was also somewhat variable. You can see George chastising people for mentioning the actual upgrade price they were shown in their accounts on other threads.

Post

It would be very nasty if, after the upgrade option expires on June 26, those who have upgraded are then immediately “surprised” with new upgrade offers for V9.

Post

The upgrade price was not fully applied in all cases. There have been special cases, offers, or exceptions, so yes, it had been dynamic based on other licenses, history, etc

Right now and until June 2026, it’s simply just $99 to cover some edge cases.

The 9.x upgrade pricing is not planned yet, there is no hurry for a major revision version release.

If the upgrade price window was closed and now reopened (I'm unaware of the reasons for the reopening), can you reopen download links for version 7 owners? I don't agree with the removal full stop, but, much more so with it affecting licenses that are only one version behind the current one. And, I would have been less aggrieved if a warning had been sent out prior to the removal, to warn people and give them a chance to make sure they had backups in place, but that never happened.
Until forever fades away.

Discovery Pro 7.x is EOL. We placed a permanent banner in the Members Area reminding users to always keep a backup, and three years to do it seems a reasonable time frame. But if you still need to get the 7.9 installer for your current system, file a ticket via https://www.discodsp.com/support/ to get a temporary 48-hour download link.

Oh, right. Now I also rember that I owned v6, moved countries and didn't do music stuff for couple of years then found out that I couldn't download v6 anymore when I got back into it (no installers were available anymore) but was forced to upgrade to v7. Right, right, that was also a move that drove me mad, now I can't forgive myself for ever paying anything to this leech, hah.

Yeah, good luck to anyone who decides to spend cash on this.

Post

Just to set the record straight, v6 installers have been available on request via support for a long time as well as a download, so you were never locked out. Upgrading to v7 was also optional, not mandatory.
