Everything up to and not including 6.1

Not sure what you mean?
The tool bar popping up on a right click has gone right?
Sorry... I still don't know what you mean. What tool bar... and clicking where?

no complaints! (just wish they had paid attention to the user manual as they rolled with all the betas. Those who are completely new to Bitwig will be frustrated with the current manual as it only reflects Bitwig 5. Those of us who are not new have no freakin' clue what's different other than the features that interupt our current workflow)

They are working on the manual. Also, the changelog is a good resource for seeing the new features.

pdxindy wrote: Fri Mar 13, 2026 2:49 am Sounds like the new auto-zoom selected track feature. There is an icon for it in the bottom left of the Arrange Pane. Also, there's a key-command to enable/disable it - Shift-Z
Ah, that's good to know. In my case it was zooming the wrong track, so I would click on a track but a different one would zoom. I've not seen it since, and turning off the autozoom gets rid of that whole behaviour. Thanks for the info!

Starting to really enjoy 6.

To be honest though it’s a major mess up.

It’s not like the beta wasn’t going for quite a while and they didn’t have time. I understand things changed in this time period but the major functionality changes were there from the start of the first beta.

The manual should really have been ready on day one of the release.

One thing that interests me is that usually when there is a release - even a point release - this forum gets quite busy with posts from users that have not used the beta and have started using the released version.

With 6 this doesn’t seem to have happened. I’m scratching my head trying to work out why?

No v6 user guide/manual is a hard fail.

WTF---I installed Bitwig 6 today, intentionally installed it to a different directory than the version of Bitwig 5 I'd been using so it wouldn't overwrite it... and it uninstalled the old Bitwig anyway without asking me! I'm extremely annoyed.

I hate the new gui so much. Even after adjusting it I feel like it's giving me more eyestrain than the old one. So f*cking stupid that they don't give us the option to revert the color scheme.

And they now hide the grid subdivision selection inside a menu you have to click on an icon to access.

Yeah.
More and more curious who's doing the UI stuff now.
Seems to be a blind mole smoking something unhealthy.
Since the new Browser in 5.x, things are going downhill.
Just seeing the new track header with a tiny fader and a lot of empty space when enlarged triggers all my WTF and why on earth would I want that circuits.
Well, thankfully 4.4.10 works just fine.
Thanks for saving me quite some money guys!
I'm sure if you continue down that road, Native Instruments will buy you at one point.

I am a dedicated Reason man BUT I have kept abreast of Bitwig as it was where I would go if Reason imploded. B6 is the first time I have opened Bitwig and felt constantly confused. Where Bitwig felt clear, now it feels cluttered, messy, and obtuse. With that, might as well go to Reaper. It seems I am not the only one feeling this dramatic shift from clarity of workflow to feature splatter.
:-(

These right click pop up tool bars have gone in the clip and arranger view, why i have no idea as it's slower now. Not everyone wants to work with keybaord shortcuts and it makes no sense to now go all the way over to the right of the screen to select a tool when you're editing on the left side of the screen :dog:

I though it was just me. You can select to have the fader back but still it's not great. Now in 6 you have to super enlarge tracks to see where they're routed so if you buss and group your tracks like me, its now a nightmare in 6. So youll have to go to the mixer to more easily make sure you havent forgot to route something where its suppoed to go.

I also found the scrub tool to be confusing, its doesnt work as i expected and if i try to play audio on a track thats going to groups/busses, it mutes those groups/busses so i can't even hear the clip of audio i want to audition. Not sure how a 6+ month beta diodnt pick that up

Lastly is it kjust me, the loop area now being blue from grey blends in and isn't easy to see when it was super clear stand out before and the new markers are messy and less distinct than 5?

Staying on 5 for now, the right click tools pallete being removed was a step too far for my workflow

Yes, I'd rather devote my memory to other things, like actual music, or other meaningful things, rather than a bunch of random shortcuts. If I wanted to go that route I'd be using Cubase instead.

It's so ridiculous. They should at least give us the option to have the toolbar options (meaning of course things like switching from pointer to pencil) show up on right-click like they used to. But way to screw up the muscle memory of everyone who's been using that feature for years. And then they have the installer automatically uninstall previous versions to try to prod you into using the new one exclusively.

Has me seriously considering switching to Reaper for its apparently fully customizable gui... especially if/when there's a cheap and convenient way to quickly customize Reaper's gui using AI.

Looking at Studio One for the same reasons, reluctantly though :(
I can't understand how the beta testing didn't show up all the issues i've found, didn't even get to the new cool stuff becasue basic workflow is broken and 10+ years of like you said, muscle memory is out the window straight away, big no no.
Even worse i was the guy back in 2015 banging on about putting a right click pop up tool bar in every week with support until they gave in after watching a video i made showing how much faster it can be :hihi:
