I understand the additional complexity around modern CPUs makes the implementation of multicore support even trickier than it used to be. But I wonder what proportion of Z3 users base are still using 'old school' processors which don't have a mixture of cores?

Whatever optimizations were made on Z3 during the beta phase have worked really well, such that I can run a single instance with only a very few patches causing glitches. However, multiple instances of Z3 soon start to tax my CPU.

Speaking for myself, the 'MC' button on, say, Bazille, works just fine on my fairly recently built PC. Would it be feasible to add this kind of multicore support on the understanding that it would only work on 'older' machines, while work continues on developing comprehensive support?
Bumping my own question here, seems to have been overlooked

I can't speak about MC atm. It's on our list of things to look into within the next 2-3 months, but nobody at u-he has done it yet.

Fair enough, thanks for the reply.

I guess I have to study Z3's possibilities and guides for the next maybe 13 years ;) ...
It's amazing, it's great and it's unbelievable.

... and after one and a half years it really helped to update my mainboard drivers to run multiple instances of Z3.

I cant be the only one that learns more about a soft synth when playing around with the skins/themes?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
But then a strange fear gripped me
and I just couldn't ask....

You must be hating your eyes.

 and this is the tame version, I love starting from the *init* patch with almost NO colour, then more and more it gets messier!!! :band:

Hi, I have been trying Z3 and I am wondering if this has been requested or not or if I have not been adept enough to notice it as a feature already:
Is there a grid slice function in the spline editor? it would be extremely useful to add points without having to disrupt the waveform, using perfect intervals that are set by the user. Also, am missing the simple double or half the length of MSEGs that's so handy in Zebra2. Thanks!

Post

A grid slicing tool wasn't requested yet... I had thought about it, but then dismissed it because it'll probably add extraneous amounts of points.

MSEGs can be half timed or double timed in the enlarged editor (toolbox on the left, pretty much down at the bottom)

I hope someone will make a skin inspired by the OG Zebra2. It feels too appropriate :)

Thank you, Urs.
I understand. Thinking about it myself now I see how that could create some chaos especially when it comes to point by point morphing interactions. I found the add length function, so thank you.

Would it be feasible to add something like a modulus operator to the modmath module at some point? It would be very useful to have oscillators that stick to pitch class, but stay within certain octaves. I have already done such things using the mappers, but having logic handle it seems more expedient(to me, at least.)

I would be all over this, ZebraHZ as well, need a skin that looks exactly like that

I also love the old Zebra 2 skin and the legacy skin of Zebra 2 as well. Hope that we will see the new skins in the updates from U-HE.
