Stepic is great with Live. There's a M4L version that you can slot in before an instrument and the modulation can be mapped directly to live parameters

Yes.. have you tried it?
If you create a sequence in a major scale, it's impossible to play it in a minor one.
But maybe something has been improved in this area recently.

I just put whatever notes I want the arpeggiator to move through in the piano roll in my DAW or play on my MIDI controller and leave Stepic set to chromatic. What you feed into it determines the scale/chord/key.

That's making a scale aware arp/transposable sequence.

A regular arp just breaks up the input chord into its component notes ie. it is scale agnostic to the input.

If you leave Stepic on chromatic then the arp mode scales in parallel with the input like a normal arp.

You can program stepic's sequencer to transpose octaves. It's actually incredibly flexible as an arp.
