Hi everyone,

I’m Matt, and I just released HERETIC, the first plugin from an effects brand I started called Wired Saint. I've always liked gritty, flexible plugins for my own industrial/dark pop leaning music, and decided to try my hand at experimenting with my own effects.

One thing led to another, and I came up with an initial UI that balances the simplicity of guitar pedal interfaces with the flexibility of DSP, while including quality of life features like presets and utilities. I'm also leaning on my experience in web development for an HTML-based interface using WebView which allows for some neat CSS tricks for Heretic and future plugins.

HERETIC is a multi-mode distortion built for character-heavy saturation and extreme signal mangling.

Processing Engines:
  • SOFT: Tube-style saturation
  • HARD: Brick-wall hard clipping
  • RECT: Full-wave rectification
  • FOLD: Wavefolding synthesis
  • CRUSH: Bit and sample-rate reduction
Key Features:
  • Contextual Parameters: The Drive and Shape controls map to different algorithms depending on the active mode (altering asymmetry, scream filters, rectifier blend, fold density, and decimation).
  • Utility Array: Noise gate, input trim, auto-gain compensation, oversampling, and a bass crossover to keep low-end tight under heavy drive.
  • Reactive UI: Visual feedback tied directly to the underlying DSP state.
Pricing & Availability:
  • Format: VST3 / AU (Windows & macOS)
  • Evaluation: Full trial available
  • Price: $29
  • Available Now: wiredsaint.com/heretic
I’d love to hear any feedback you may have about Heretic, and look forward to finding ways to improve it and future plugins.

Thanks!

Just updated Heretic to v1.1 and added a free trial download. It’s the same installer as the full version with no time limits or feature lockouts. It just mutes for 2 seconds about every minute.

I also updated the original post with a proper demo video so you can see Heretic in action.

v1.1 Changes:
- Resolved an issue causing audio pops when switching presets with AGC and Bass Crossover active.
- Added trial mode.

Cheers!

After spending some time observing the market and planning my product line-up, I've decided to reduce the base price for Heretic down to $29. I want these tools to be accessible as the catalog expands.

I'd love to get some input from folks who can test this in different DAWs. Most of my testing and usage is in Reaper, and I'd like to know if Heretic is working well for folks with different DAW/OS configurations.

Is Heretic interesting to you? And if not, what might make it better (price, features, design, etc)? The trial version is fully unlocked (with periodic mute) if you want to give it a try here: wiredsaint.com/heretic

Thanks for taking a look!
