In the absence of evidence that'll have to do but I doubt if you could even manage that.Montana wrote:I can point you to a shitload of people who say there is indeed a difference.

No shit!Montana wrote: If one app uses floating point math and one uses integer math, there can be differences in accuracy of the final mixdown,
The one that uses integer math, if it is a VST host is converting floating point numbers to integers, doing some processes on them, converting them back to floating point numbers to be processed by other vsts, before finally converting them all back again for final mix down.
It's entirely probable that you'd get a different bit level output out of such an engine. You;d have a hard job convincing me that the differences would be mathematically significant above the level of human hearing though, and an even hard time convincing me that this method is any better than a complete end to end floating point method.
Do try though, I'd love to hear your reasons...
A design flaw? In adding mubers togther?especially if there are any design flaws.
See, this is exactly the junk science I hate. How the hell can you have "clipping" that isn't "distortion"? If it changes the sound in any way it is fundamentally distortion! At least try and have a clue before you go around calling people names.Ther could also be clipping at the mix bus that while not producing distortion, can effefct overall sound quality.
And why the f**k would there be clipping in the mix bus in a floating point system anyway?
Someone shot the food. Remember: don't shoot food!

No, I know what it is. I just didnt like the tone of your posts - and wont respond until you act like a human being instead of an asshole.

Poor design.
Maybe you should talk to people like Allen Yoshida at A and M mastering.

Look, it's Tracktions big day today. Lets not get into a war with this now. It's not worth it.
Apologies to all in this thread for any unpleasantries.
When I can I will try and back up my experience. Until then, it's all rather pointless.

Please, if you have any facts, I´m listening. But if you´re just speculating, please tell that before you raise any unecessary worries.Montana wrote: When I can I will try and back up my experience. Until then, it's all rather pointless.

In fact, this may sound like a commercial, but after years of struggling with Cubase, since I found Tracktion my hopes have returned of getting some serious music making done!
