I was positive about the plugin and he came along and tried to invalidate me and the others who were positive about it then got very defensive when called out on it. It doesn't matter how much experience he has, how many Fab Filter presets he has, how many posts he has or how many people he's helped with said posts. He was dismissive and patronising. That deserves to be called out.

After spending more time with the plugin, I still like it. Will I use it in projects? From time to time I might. I stand by all the positive things I said about it earlier in the thread, regardless of those things being omitted when I've been quoted or my opinion not holding as much weight as someone else's.

Actually you were being dismissive and that deserves to be called out.
He just stated his opinion as you did and you dismissed his knowledge and experience which is proven but yours is not, respectfully again.

I didn't dismiss anything. I simply said I didn't think 15 minutes was long enough to thoroughly test the plugin, which I stand by. It actually has a lot of features and is pretty versatile.

I don't care about my experience and knowledge being proven on a forum. I don't care about being popular here. I care about my clients being happy and being the best engineer I can be. And when it comes to new tools, I personally like to take time to get to know their features and learn them before deciding whether to buy them and/or commit to using them in my workflow. And if I don't like them, I'll leave constructive feedback rather than announce how I deleted them and question everyone else's experience of using them.

You called him out for only giving 15 minutes. That’s dismissive and patronizing in that you think you know his capability more than he did, and didn’t believe his answer was justified based on the time spent.

Now that you hear he’s got some actual experience, you’re lashing out everyone that’s mentioning it.

Nobody is stopping you from having an opinion and all this started because you didn’t think he did enough to justify his own opinion and that’s f**ked up.

Not lashing out. Just sharing my thoughts and observations. Why would learning he has experience bother me? Not at all. I thought him listing it all was unnecessary and defensive. Stating my opinion that 15 minutes isn't enough time to thoroughly test something isn't about the person doing the testing - it's about the tool being tested. But quite honestly, I'd expect better of someone with so much experience (in audio and here on the forum) than 'I hated it, deleted it after 15 minutes and I don't know what's wrong with anyone who likes it'. But that's on me for having such expectations on anyone.

You keep trying to make this something that it’s not. You made him defend his opinion and now don’t like the response.

We don’t have to be right all the time, but leave room to move on. He hasn’t done anything except share his thoughts and on a forum it’s definitely okay we don’t all agree.

I tried it out for 16 minutes and deleted it. Workflow was slightly annoying, and I didn't really think it sounded better than any of my other options.

All I've done is state my own opinions and respond when people have chimed in. Because I happened to disagree with a very active and popular member, people have felt the need to jump in and basically insinuate his opinion is valid and mine isn't. Yes, I am guilty of responding to those people which has kept this going.

I didn't make him defend his opinion. He chose to do it. My issue wasn't even about him not liking the plugin - it was the way he went about expressing it. Read what he said again. Surely you can see how it's possible someone could have an issue with what he said? Did I need to respond? No. I chose to.

I don't have an issue with him - I replied to his post, he replied to mine, I replied again and that was the end of it. I've actually done what he did in over explaining myself since. I'm happy to move on.
