Believe its January 10th. Should still be on their website. People who had just bought V Collection 5 during the Black Friday sale were able to get it for $150. I would be one of those people.dbender wrote:I've been following this thread since the beginning, but can't recall if these questions have been answered, and don't want to go back over this 77 page thread again to see.
1) Is the $199 price to upgrade from Collection v5 to v6 a limited time offer, expiring soon, or is it good for this year? In other words, is there some fixed deadline coming up when it will expire (early January?), or will it be available for this year? I can't remember whether the upgrade price for Collection v4 to v5 upgrade was available in our user area all last year (I bought it right when it came out). I want to do the upgrade from v5 to v6, but not right now, hoping to do it in the spring after I get my tax refund. But don't want to miss out on the $199 upgrade price by waiting until then.
2) Has anyone seen the $199 upgrade price cheaper anywhere? I've checked audio deluxe.com and jrrshop and didn't see the upgrade offered at all, let alone for a discount. Has anyone seen the $199 upgrade price cheaper anywhere?
Thanks and happy holidays to all!

Yes, another good ol' KVR list
Which one you'd like Arturia to emulate next?
Synthia V (EMS VCS3 / Synthi AKS. Time to end XILS monopoly on this synth)
Omni V or Quadra V (Solina calls for her thick lush sistas)
OB-X V (Prince's funky synth, RIP Prince)
Linn V (Beat of the 80's, Prince, Prince, Prince!!!)
Synthex V (Yeah, you can do Jarre laser harps with this... and so much more!)
PolyKobol V (Rare French beauty polysynth)
PPG Wave V (Rare German beauty wavetable synthesizer)
Emulator V (You know this guy, even Ferris Bueller played it!)
Juno V (Juno 60, because world needs another Juno synth
)
Vocoder V (EMS Vocoder 5000, Korg VC-10, Roland VP-330 - just the classics)
Pianet V (Pianet N, Combo Pianet, Pianet T)
Approve. Bash. Discuss.

I don't think Roland would approve the Juno or the VP-330. I think the only reason Jup-8 V (it was named Jupiter-8 V (after all) before Roland hit their head pretty hard) is allowed to exist is because it has been around for quite some time. But who knows.
I would like to see Arturia's take on the EMS VCS3 and the PPG Wave though.

I like to see them turn their attention to effect emulation - specifically an Ensoniq
DP/4 or DP/4 + emulation would hit my wallet with little resistance.

XILS is pretty hard to beat, plus if Arturia does a matrix synth why not a virtual Matrixbrute?
Synthex V (Yeah, you can do Jarre laser harps with this... and so much more!)
PolyKobol V (Rare French beauty polysynth)
Both done very well by XILS
PPG Wave V (Rare German beauty wavetable synthesizer)
Can't see anyone doing better than Waldorf themselves, as if they would let anyone anyway
Vocoder V (EMS Vocoder 5000, Korg VC-10, Roland VP-330 - just the classics)
Didn't XILS do this too?
Pianet V (Pianet N, Combo Pianet, Pianet T)
Modartt have a really great model of these in Piantoteq's Hohner addon (an alternative is Keyscape)

I know it has been said before but I would most like them to revisit some of their earliest offerings and get them to sound more like the hardware rather than just look like them.
I sold my V Collection 3 because I couldn’t see the graphics, but they fixed that, and they could fix the sound too.
I have just picked up a few secondhand since: SEM, CS-80, Modular, ARP 2600 and have just bought the Easel new. Perhaps V Collection 7 will see me buy back in again.

This! For me it doesn't have to be a great emulation - improved sound engines would sufficelnikj wrote:I know it has been said before but I would most like them to revisit some of their earliest offerings and get them to sound more like the hardware rather than just look like them.

The Prophet VS could certainly do with some TLC in that department!lnikj wrote:I know it has been said before but I would most like them to revisit some of their earliest offerings and get them to sound more like the hardware rather than just look like them.

Yeah, another vote for revisiting the older plugins. They're nowhere near as terrible as some would have us believe, but there's no doubt that next to the likes of u-he you can hear the difference.
But that said, I do feel we're very much getting the law of diminishing returns with endless versions of endless old synths. I'm not sure where its all leading, and this from someone who lived through still adores the analogue era. After a while you wonder what anyone can possibly be gaining by getting their 50th 80s analogue emulation.
The biggest nut to crack imo is the hardware, and here Arturia should be leaps and bounds ahead of the competition as they make a ton of it. No-one has really done it though, that elusive seamless integration between a controller and a variety of soft synths. With some imagination, I think it would be possible to build a controller around a lot of physical controls and display(s). You'd never make a Jupiter 8 look like a Jupiter 8, but it should be possible to give every control its own physical knob / slider / switch, with clear labelling and some kind of unique graphical representation of the original. Good quality displays are pretty cheap these days, you could build something that has hardware physically over strips of the screen itself and it could still be cost effective. This is an image of the Studer Vista 5 broadcast mixer which uses this technique - imagine how good this could be for a soft synth controller.

May I ask you guys a question:
Do you MAKE music with these vintage synths?
Or do you just want to HAVE these dream machines of the past?
Or is there another aspect I‘m missing?
