ah, I see you weren't doing an upgrade. Literally just bought V5 yesterday when I saw it on sale for $229. Can't fathom forking over 200 more for 4 more synths...so I'm not too pissed about it.

I do feel a little bit sorry for devs like Arturia. The punters evaluation of value is definitely hardening - mine included. Each of these synths at €50 would have looked like bargains even a couple of years ago when I started buying. I just checked and my path to the full V collection 5 cost me £270 total and now I am being asked for £180 for 4 more synths, it just doesn't "feel" like value.
And there is so much other good stuff competing for my money. Should I spend the same amount of money on an upgrade to Live Suite/10? IK's Syntroniks is currently €224. U-he's Repro is tempting! Oh man!

It’s a really bad business model and will cost them in the long run.SHall1000 wrote:I do feel a little bit sorry for devs like Arturia. There’s no sense in there upgrade pricing.

I know it will be unpopular, but I think Arturia should go the subscription route and sell each synth individually at $99 or so for people that don't like subscriptions. Then they never have to deal with upgrade pricing schemes that piss people off.

I have the v5 collection and upgrade price is $199 so your price appears to be a better deal
At Arturia, they CLAIM that the upgrade price will never be lower based on the products I own. I'm not sure if I believe that but they make that statement several times on various pages.

Why can't NI create a new fm synth? I'm not a big fan of Arturia, but if this dx7 is good and really imports sysex properly, and if the price go lower than 99 I might consider buying only this...

There will be people who will jump on the upgrade at the current price and others, like me, who will wait for the inevitable sale price. I upgraded from v4 to v5 a year ago for €99 mainly to get the updated GUIs as the additional synths, with the exception of the Synclavier, weren't of any real interest. This time there are three synths that appeal to me but I am happy to wait.simmo75 wrote:It’s a really bad business model and will cost them in the long run.
There’s no sense in there upgrade pricing.
Given that I originally bought Arturia's early products like the CS80, Arp 2600 and Moog Modular at full retail price, it might seem tight of me to wait for a better price but money is tighter for me these days.

Now, that message is not there.
Read into that what you will.
