To his great credit, Nick Allen is on Twitter at the moment gently easing custom unrest. I've just witnessed a good example of this where someone who had lost paid work from this, ended up thanking Nick for addressing the root problem

It seemed not everybody grabbed this post, so I just quoted... The learning process is triggered...PieBerger wrote: Wed Jun 09, 2021 1:37 pm To the Bitwig Community,
This morning between 1:00 and 7:20 Central European Time (CET), a bug affecting our servers broke the activation process of Bitwig Studio and caused the application to go into demo mode. The issue has now been resolved and everything is working again.
We want to sincerely apologize for any problems, inconvenience, or worry this situation caused. That it happened in the first place is embarrassing and not up to our standards.
Even though the original issue is resolved, we are working on further improvements of the activation system, double- and triple-checking that something like this won't repeat itself in the future.
Best regards,
The Bitwig Team

Much agreed; this is literally the first time their CP has affected me at all. And while their explanation is somewhat vague, it does sound like the Fastly issue may have been the culprit (at least, the stated comment may allow for that scenario without naming the cause of the bug that hit their servers. But then again, what do I know?) I'm just very happy that it's all back up and running and Bitwig is reviewing the issue with an eye towards rectification.coroknight wrote: Wed Jun 09, 2021 4:00 pmOf the web services I use, Bitwig’s auth service has been one of the most stable. I look after IT for a manufacturing company and I hate to imagine the responses I would get if I told our production managers that we can't use our tube laser machines because of the connection to a server a thousand miles away!coroknight wrote: Wed Jun 09, 2021 2:42 pm As a software engineer I'm inclined to cut them some slack.

This is pretty terrible and embarassing and as someone who has Bitwig 8 track and was considering buying the full pro level product, I guess maybe I should hold onto my coins.

You certainly should make a decision with which you can live, but (in the spirit of FWIW) this is literally the first time anything like this has happened and it happened when there was an acknowledged issue worldwide with Fastly. The explanation offered, while it very courteously does not name Fastly expressly, hints at something that may indeed be related.wpostma wrote: Thu Jun 10, 2021 5:38 am This is pretty terrible and embarassing and as someone who has Bitwig 8 track and was considering buying the full pro level product, I guess maybe I should hold onto my coins.
Just something to consider.
