Interesting - I don't run any of those plugs however, ironically, after reading the thread with all the positive hype about JamStix, I decided to down the demo. It seems that this may be the first VST that I've found that seems to make T2 quite unstable - unless I'm doing something wrong with install or setup! I'm using ASIO4ALL as my audio driver so I question that as well.(?!?) Incidentally, JamStix is totally brilliant IMHO!jplanet wrote:Vaz always crashes T2 for me.Integratron wrote:I run hundreds of plugs and T has never hung or crashed - do you know specifically, what plugs are doing this?
BFD-all and groups used to, now it's ok.
Occasionally the Steinberg Grand will cause a crash.
Just Back from NAMM and more Tracktion info for you.

I just recently tried the Demo of T2 and love it's simplicity over other DAWs. I've seen a few poeple comment here that a T2 license allows you to install to 2 computers. Is the same available for T3?

OK Check thanks V! It seems like the mackie store could make some bucks from printing and selling the tech reference separately but then i'd guess they'd have to issue errata and take flack from some for selling what 'should' have been in the box etc...
I've got a sweet monitor but i still like to take manuals upstairs to the couch for study... I'll look to burn up some inkjet cartridges.

Does anyone know for certain if T3 will run on a G4 867mhz in OS 10.3.9? As per usual, Mackie haven't emailed me anything about T3; this is the only place I can find out what's going on with Tracktion.

Mackie hasn't emailed anyone about T3. They usually email upon launch, but not even all the information is out yet. So you didn't miss anything.
T3 will still run on Panther, but it will be with less performance. As for that speed, I'd say it "may" run, but not with great performance. I'd say if you can run T2, then T3 at it's core is still running the same engine and all, so it will run. But you won't be doing 30 tracks or anything. This is all just my guess though. I just remember Beno saying that Panther will still run it, but Tiger is preffered.

Check out the system requirements on the T3 page. T3 will still run in panther (about the same performance as it T2 but with smoother graphics) but items in the bundle will NOT run, hence the system requirements for the bundles saying 10.4.dry bones wrote:Does anyone know for certain if T3 will run on a G4 867mhz in OS 10.3.9? Regarding the email, we haven't sent anything about Tracktion 3 yet because it isn't yet in stores. Double check that the email associated with your my.mackie.com account is correct to make sure you receive our email when we do send it.

OK thanks Beno & Koolkeys. I'll be waiting for the download upgrade, as I don't want the bundled stuff. I made the comment about emails because Mackie never emailed me about any T2 information ( I have always kept my email address up to date ).

i'm also interested in knowing what the cutoff date is for a free upgrade to Tracktion 3 should someone buy Tracktion 2 around nowabouts... i'm tempted, but since i use Sonar as my primary host/DAW, Tracktion is just a great test facility and scribble pad; the only thing it has that Sonar doesn't, is the rack feature. i would love to see Tracktion work as a Rewire Slave. But, i bought Console, so i guess that doesn't matter any more...

I have a trial version of Tracktion (1.06 I believe). If I buy T3 will the edits I made in that transfer to T3? Will it do that automatically or will I have to save them somehow (the trialversion won't let me export the files)?

Probably 1.6 rather than 1.06. How is it not letting you export the files? It's been so long since I used the demo that I don't remember the restrictions. In a registered T1.6, there should be a seamless move to T3.0 in terms of projects. However, certain features such as the new time-domain functions (pitch-shifting, too) may not be 1:1 so some tracks will need to be rendered to .wav. For the most part, for most people, projects will seamlessly transition.

So, sorry, I'm a little late to the plug-in scan conversation.
I started out with N-Track, and finally had to give that up, because I had more plugins than it could handle - everything was on a single menu that didn't scroll well. The scanner also crashed regularly.
T1 and T2 were vastly better, because now I could organize them the way I thought about things - analysis plugins separated from FM synth plugs separated from reverbs, etc.
Only trouble was, I ended up trying _every_ freebie out there, which left me with hundreds of plugs. Took forever for T2 to load. True, I didn't every actually _use_ all of them, but I had dreams. Big dreams of figuring out out a magical use-them-all showstopping tune - to gain cred with, see.
So, I then picked up EnergyXT as a vst-wrapper inside of Tracktion - the plugin scan there was always speedy, and I could get something to load and be done in my lifetime. A few little foibles like not always saving the settings, but hey, compromises do little things like that.
So: will t3 be up to XT-type speedy on the plugin scan/system load? Or will I still need to wrap them? Or, will I have to (god forbid) weed out the hundreds of plugs I don't actually use?

Hi brewt. Please read this about the scanning issue. I ended up finding that, while some plugins seems to cause the slowdown to slow down even more, the biggest issue by far was having the antivirus trying to make sure... of something.
So please try disabling your antivirus first - if you're running one. My time changed from 1:30 to 0:03. If that doesn't help you can send me your log file and maybe we can try to track down a rogue plugin.
And thanks to chico for pointing me in that direction. A few times. Until I tried it.
