The short version of all this is: if you can't handle it, don't bother trying. Just accept things and try not to worry about it. A low-Z mic is probably an active mic with an amp/buffer and phantom power. It probably uses a balanced cable. The engineers handle the engineering.

Your options are:
  • Be an engineer
  • Let the engineers engineer it
