Really? KVR ignores a new compressor plugin practically completely?

He is a bit of an eccentric. Watch out for flying chairs.

You are probably right there. This is frankly what I was wondering about - the mechanism behind what gets hyped here and what not. Take Sonimus Britson for example which has had ten pages of post even before it was released and some after, even with no demo. So it seems being a bit controversial effectively helps.Numanoid wrote: A good way to get attention, could maybe be to do like some developers to include software that checks that all licences on your computer is legit, or to use iLok or such copy protection. That usually leads to 10+ pages of feedback, maybe not all good feedback, but from an advertisers standpoint all attention is good attention
Well, I didn't test it that long yet, but just for fun I tried to mimic it with DC8C, but it always sounded different (my limited skills with DC8C are possibly to blame here, toobmanic wrote:After a few hours of testing this compressor on various sources I have to say that I'm really liking it a lot! It has it's own unique behavior that I'm finding quite refreshing.
@mystran: Sorry I blew your non-promotion scheme
By the way: you wrote "Dancin'Boy" in the plugin itself and "Dancing Boy" everywhere else. What about the name anyway? A reference to "Dancing Queen"?

He says he's mostly just been busy recently and didn't have time to deal with too much at once. So consider it more of a gradual release to be announced a little more in the future.
I 100% get that because I've just done exactly the same thing myself.
A version that I've been meaning to release for months and months but just couldn't get it "done", so I forced myself to change my definition of "done" because I know people out there who are downloading the old version would be way, way better off with the new one even if it doesn't yet have everything I've been meaning to add. So I'll just keep it under wraps and release it as-is and then when I get stuff I want to have done, I'll announce that version. So it'll appear as if I've skipped one.

That is a very interesting software development method. You should find a nifty name for it, add some philosophical blablah and and market it as post-agile software development and become famous (well, in nerd world)aciddose wrote: A version that I've been meaning to release for months and months but just couldn't get it "done", so I forced myself to change my definition of "done" because I know people out there who are downloading the old version would be way, way better off with the new one even if it doesn't yet have everything I've been meaning to add. @mystran: A simple & intelligent question...
Why this semi-anomymous plugin are with payament and 2 superior plugins (2 must!)as Tila and Abstract Chamber (and now also irDust!) are free???

The name is "Dancing Boy" with the on-GUI name just written that way for some silly reasons (basically I thought it looked nicer without the descent from the glyph 'g'). The name itself is a pun on "dB" as in decibel (at least that would be the official explanation), but really it's just a name; choosing names is hard, so not all of them can be good ones.fese wrote: By the way: you wrote "Dancin'Boy" in the plugin itself and "Dancing Boy" everywhere else. Because I wrote both Tila and Abstract Chamber with the purpose of trying to provide people with some decent alternatives to whatever free reverbs I could find at the time I wrote them. In comparison, I don't feel that there is such a pressing need for a free compressor, so I figured I'd allow people to show their support in case they like my idea of compression.Turello wrote:@mystran: A simple & intelligent question...

IRDust is a bit similar to the reverbs in the sense that I felt the world deserved a simple free tool to do basic convolution, but also I wrote the tech for another purpose (which shall remain secret for the time being), so it was a sort of straight-forward spin-off.

As a developer, I know one thing. If you do not email or post news about you releases something, your product will never appear in the database.

You can use the developer dashboard added several years ago to add product pages without posting news. Although it may typically make sense to post news immediately after having the product page approved.

Love this developer, his EQ is fantastic and this compressor appears to have the same degree of awesomeness.
On a side note though, what's this IRDust plugin ? i can't find it on his website anywhere.
Edit: Found it on his forum page

Sorry about that, the first builds of IRDust were really early in development so wanted to keep it forum only, but it should be basically usable now, so just need to write a page for it.Holophonic wrote:Love this developer, his EQ is fantastic and this compressor appears to have the same degree of awesomeness.
