Pat Metheny.

My older brother took me to see him and Lyle Mayes, along with the full PM Group in 1977 (I was 6-years old) at the Gusman Theater in Miami.

That was it, man...I knew...

Probably early Pink Floyd. Most of the weird sounds on those early albums were made with guitars using experimental slide techniques.
I had no idea how to play guitar properly but I can tell you that simply making a racket by attacking those strings with a slide is a great way to start. Not so much for my parents or the neighbors though... :D

Sounds like grunge. But I'll put money down that you sounded better than anything Nirvana put out.

I like all his bands, in the studio it was most of the time a "one man show", though and I like him on every instrument

A friend had a rather nice sounding nylon acoustic that everyone tried to jingle on.
Then we heard Alex Lifeson and played Spirit Of Radio wrong for years.

Simple, to pick up chicks! Guitarists get all the groupies...

Alas, as soon as I started learning, forgot about the girls and was consumed by the urge to SHRED UNTIL I'M DEAD! :-o :-o

Still got a gf, but she was a rock drummer. Heh. Funny how that worked out! :?

Decades later, still having better luck with guitars than gfs. Dating is a pain, just hand me my axe! :wheee:

Well here is an embarrassing topic. I would watch the Hardy Boys on tv. At the end of every episode Shawn Cassidy would play a guitar and sing. Everyone seemed to enjoy it especially the girls. But I was still a bit young for girl chasing. After that it was Ace Freahly and by then girls were a big deal.....but never as big a deal as playing guitar. Even at 55 ...I piss off the wife with the amount of time I play music.....oh well....hope she can adjust.
We jumped the fence because it was a fence not be cause the grass was greener.
