I'd have to say my favorites right now without the Valhallas would be:
1. Flux:: IRCAM Verb v3. This is truly one of the most amazing sounding reverbs I've ever heard. For big soundscape/ambient stuff this is fantastic. Plus it's multi-channel so you can use it on surround mixes.
2. Exponential Audio Phoenix Verb. Great for anything from subtle clean small rooms to lush large open spaces. I've used it on rock mixes as well as spatial ambient stuff.
3. Eventide UltraReverb. The algorithms from their H8000. Very clean but detailed reverb. Great for when you need to add space but fairly transparent.
4. Audio Damage Eos. Awesome thick reverb. I usually use it as a second reverb buss and pull it back in the mix. Really adds character.
5. I still love the old TC Mega Reverb from their old Pro Tools TDM pack. I use to use it on electronic and ambient stuff. It was great having automatable inputs and outputs to make it sound like tracks were moving towards and away from you. Was an awesome effect and a cool sounding reverb.

On the subject of reverberation wondering if anyone can explain the following.
I'm on family hols and visited a lake, with man made beach surrounding it and totally circumfernced by pine trees, a forest. Whilst sat on the sand, the kids were in the water playing and shouting as they do. What I noticed and heard was something fresh to my ears. When the voices hit a certain volume from the kids in the lake, the voices appeared to reverberate with a thin metallic sound on the water followed by a secondary reverberating echo from the dense pine trees to my left in the forest. Almost like a haunting whispering echo of voices from a horror pic.
Thought of this thread as am sad like that.
My question is I thought reverberation required solid dense objects to echo.
My audible observation is the voices audio waves must have shimmered across the water and then striking the dense pine forest , the trees dispersing the sound waves in a manner of fractual dispersion.
Has anyone come across this phenomenon and help explain.
I tried to capture the sounds on my phone in HD sound but don't think it was sensitive enough to pick it up.

I don't have a detailed explanation for that, but it is known that water reflects waves.
Also, if you've ever been in a room that is completely void of reflections, it's only then that you realise how much reverb and echo's there are all day surrounding you, even when outside. It's a really weird feeling hearing your own voice "falling dead" into the space.

MFXXX, was there any bared bedrock around the lake?
Did you see the part in this thread about forest IR? Around page 15 or something, I think. Could be some info there or through the link

I like Waves True Verb a lot, very controllable, you can dial in the size of the virtual room, very handy.
I love my Lexicon LXP bundle too. Eying to Waves H-reverb though, the demo is amazing, so versatile and nice sound!

I think it would be important that you make it clear if that's "work" or really just enthusiasm.
Nothing wrong with promoting for money, but it shouldn't be in a sneaky way.

This thread sounds more like discordant noise that reverb suddenly, in my opinion

But if you follow the conversation to its conclusion, It might resolve itself in a cavernous like, lush and wide decay.gaf_thit wrote:This thread sounds more like discordant noise that reverb suddenly, in my opinion

To be in the topic, I used to use TrueVerb for years working in sound design, and it has nice controlls in terms of modelling a room size and distance between sound source and the 'listener'. However, the license belonged to the company I was working for, and currently I don't have any of Waves reverbs, Lexicon LXP bundle being my main reverb. H-reverb by Waves seems to be better (still digging in the demo), but I am a bit on budget now, so maybe another time. Not sure how H-reverb compares to Lexicon PCM though.
