Thanks for the rosy outlook. We have screenshots of TONEX inside AmpliTube 5 on the TONEX pages. It's fine.

Cool. Thanks for clarifying. It could be kind of a cool concept though. But better pro captures seem the way to go in this situation.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Wed Aug 10, 2022 7:49 pmYou cannot capture with the free version (and can only download 20 user Tone Models). Please see the comparison chart for the different versions on the AmpliTube TONEX page.metalifuxx wrote: Wed Aug 10, 2022 6:44 pm Since the free version includes the Capture application software which lets IK Multimedia crowd source free models from non paid users and helps their library grow (and profit off potential new customers), it would only make sense to employ a karma/ratio system, that if you submit a rig capture, you should be able to get 1 credit towards downloading some other user’s rig capture in the database for use in the free version if you only have the free version. This would help the database of rigs keep growing and encourage new users and potential customers to capture their rigs.

It's not fine. Why does IK leave 20-year old outdated models in AmpliTube?Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Wed Aug 10, 2022 8:13 pm Thanks for the rosy outlook. We have screenshots of TONEX inside AmpliTube 5 on the TONEX pages. It's fine.
Why not have a single definitive model of each amp, built on the latest modeling techniques, instead?
How is someone who is new to AmpliTube supposed to navigate all of that? How are they supposed to know which amps are the 10% of non-crappy amps in AmpliTube? Why has there been no curation in 20 years?
And now you're going to throw thousands of Tone Models at them on top of that?
AmpliTube is absolutely the worst managed plugin on the market.
And JCM Slash has still never been fixed.

Jamcat's argument is not without merit.
I'd personally love to see Amplitube 6 start fresh with new models only. Some of the AT amps/stomps just don't hold up compared to IK's newer sims and it brings down the overall average quality rating [in my mind] of the product. Fewer, higher quality models would be appreciated by me.
I also think AT5's GUI was a step backwards in terms of workflow, but I've heard other people who feel otherwise. I swear I'm clicking way more than I ever used to, and the load time is not appreciated either.
That said, I dig the idea of these rig captures and have had good experiences with similar products so I'm not trying to knock on TONEX.

You don’t have to use TONEX in A5 so it may be TONEX is all you need…
There is a lot of filler in A5, personally I just have my own presets made with the stuff I like so it doesn’t really bother me…I bet if you removed stuff someone would complain they needed backward compatibility, but a ‘hide’ function would be useful.

I mean...the presets sound different between each version of Amplitube anyway. AT4 presets don't sound the same in AT5. There were changes, even where the amps/fx were not fully remodeled. I think they'd just have to decide to focus on quality over quantity in a new version and say "keep the old version around for project compatibility", which is basically the status quo.SLiC wrote: Wed Aug 10, 2022 8:46 pm You don’t have to use TONEX in A5 so it may be TONEX is all you need…

I don’t think there are any other than 50 off if you have max…to be fair it’s a completely separate stand alone product (but it can also run in A5) and 99 bucks is pretty cheap (70 with JAM today points)benjamind wrote: Wed Aug 10, 2022 8:51 pm I bought Amplitube 5 a week or so ago. What options do I get to crossgrade?

To clarify some questions I'm seeing here and elsewhere:
1) You can do everything (capture, play/edit/share) at just the $/€99.99 level (TONEX SE) if you own an interface like AXE I/O or a standard audio interface + reamping box/unit* that you can connect to your amp and pedal rig
2) That's approximately 1/18 of what you would have paid so far with "other" devices that do the same thing
3) Plus you get 200 tone models (at the $/€99.99 level) that you can use to practice, record, etc inside AmpliTube 5 (any version including free)
4) Plus you get access to free tone models that IK and other users will post and share on ToneNET (IK will post 50+ free tones at the start but just like with the current ToneNET they will keep coming)
*If you already have an interface and want to get started modeling your own gear [url=https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/t ... tonexTONEX Capture[/url] is the perfect tool to model amps, cabs, and pedals. Plus you can use if for re-amplfication in general, too.

As SLiC mentioned if you have AmpliTube 5 MAX you would get a $/€50 coupon in your cart (now you can choose to apply this or if you'd rather use JamPoints you can apply those instead, thankfully that change was made recently). Otherwise from that purchase and possibly others you can use any JamPoints you have to take up to an additional 30% off.benjamind wrote: Wed Aug 10, 2022 8:51 pm I bought Amplitube 5 a week or so ago. But Tone Models are still just half-assed, glorified presets.
Use machine learning to build definitive, complete amp and cab models, instead.
The idea of perusing thousands of glorified presets to buy what you hope will be the perfect tone for your song, and then starting all over again when the one you chose doesn't work out in the mix, (each time incurring a new cost), does not sound appealing to me in the least. It's a great racket for IK though.

Capturing Tone Models of everything we have from all of AmpliTube's history is definitely not without merit, it's quite a great idea. I already got to play the Dumble, but I'll volunteer to go to Italy to do a bunch of amps that hold their own too

Speaking of the Dumble, this video just happens to use our Dumble to show the process from end to end:

This works with bass guitar also, correct? It would be cool to see/hear some A/B comparisons of a nice bass going through an SVT amp or something along those lines.

Well, my point is a bit broader than that.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Wed Aug 10, 2022 9:23 pmCapturing Tone Models of everything we have from all of AmpliTube's history is definitely not without merit, it's quite a great idea. Machine learning should be used to make a single definitive model of each amp and each cab in IK's amp vault. Clean house from top to bottom and replace everything with new 2022 models.
That Dumble ought to be a fully tweakable amp in AmpliTube, not a bunch of half-assed "Tone Model" presets. That's how Neural DSP uses machine learning, so it can be done.
