Hi !

I am very interested in Chineekong and Chineewinds. However, I still have two questions.

Chineekong: Am I correct that Chineekong is a drum sampler (such as Battery for example) just with chinese drums ? Do I have to programm all the drums myself in midi or is there a possibility to let the plugin play some loops/rhythms by itself ?

Chineewinds: I tried the Minidizi and I really liked the sound. However, the tone range is quite high. I read that Chineewinds includes several dizis. Now I would like to know If a bass dizi (for example) covers a much lower range. So I would appreciate a mp3 demo that features the different instruments solo (it could be short). I just don't like those song demos which feature the instrument only inside a complete arrangement.

Thanks for your help,

Gustar

Hi Gustar,

ChineeKong is a drum 'rompler'(which means you can't load your own samples). Just like most other VSTi's, ChineeKong receives MIDI notes, so you can use other MIDI-capable plugins/devices to trigger ChineeKong. So, in theory, you may use midi loops to trigger ChineeKong.

However, due to that ChineeKong's special way of handling sample sets, generic MIDI loops usually won't work well at all. You'll be better off by programming your own loops as you compose.

As for ChineeWinds, all the tone ranges of our samples are faithful to the original instruments.(except MiniDizi) So, unfortunately, we do not have tones lower than you have already heard in the audio demos.

Well, I discovered that audio demo 2 features some lower dizis that fit my needs. I am going to put Chineewinds on my list...

Unfortunately, my ability to program chinese drums is rather mediocre :help:, so I don't think Chineekong is the right product for me.

But if you decide at some point to include a number of chinese midi loops with chineekong (maybe in a new version) let me know.

Yes, after listening to a few more audio samples I realised that I mean a xiao. The sound is somehow a little softer and warmer I believe.

Any chance we will see ChineeXiao soon ? :?:

Even though ChineeWinds contains a few Xiao patches, it's not as extensive/expressive as the rest of the flute patches indeed.

In the future, we may have something that will stress upon Xiao though.
