Cannot register Receptor

Plugorama tells me I have invalid numbers. I can't figure out who to ping at Muse (and it's Saturday night), but could someone help?

Post

I went through this myself a couple of weeks ago. Most likely there is nothing you can about registering until someone from Muse replies to your post.

Thanks. I've PMed, emailed, posted here, and shouted real loud. One of those will probably get a reply, although I guess I probably won't get anything until Monday. Is it maybe dumb that you have to type complicated numbers in to register hardware? -- doesn't it know if it's a Receptor or not? But maybe I'm a little frustrated.

Post

Well I have really taken issue with the registration process, I mean after all it is "harware based". Somehow mine got out without somebody entring in the units ID into a computer - or so I was told. I think somebody else had the same problem this week. Must be somebody is to busy to enter the info so we can register.lol. They will make it happen for you though. Somebody in London (I think) was able to straighten it out for me on monday morning. still messed with it all weekend trying to register thinking maybe I was entering the wrong numbers. They are so small.

I read your thread -- it seems like they are eager enough to help. It is, I will say, a terrible way to introduce new users to your product. Since I still feel a little uneasy about it (should I have just gotten a Shuttle PC? a laptop? an Eclipse?), there is the temptation to look at the iLock, the registration issues, and say "nope" and ship it right back. I expect to stick it out, but if you hadn't replied I might well have had it up at FedEx on Monday and sent for the Eclipse which I am quite sure works like it's supposed to out of the box.

But I'm breathing again, so I can leisurely install the extra RAM tomorrow and see what of my unsupported plugs will work, ditch the demos I don't want, and wait to go official until Monday. They should thank you.

Post

Well thank you. Yeah, I really think the navigation and frustration induced at plugorama is -- I'll be nice. It was a big deal for me because I was trying to install Colossus. Did you get the bundle?

Post

No. It's an effects unit mostly for me. The fact that it can run synths is just a bonus (I did get a Roland AX 1 from eBay in anticipation of that; maybe I'll get a MIDI pickup sometime). I wouldn't mind having some kind of simple sampler to trigger wavs, but there is surely something more, umm, free than Colossus for that. (Although I find Atmosphere tempting.) I'm really keen to see if Kantos works -- if not I'll see who I can annoy about that at Muse or Antares -- and Mobius would be a plus, too. But there's plenty of cool stuff to try, and I'm really sure that with just a couple hundred dollars more investment, I can get everything I really need. Heck, if some of the free plugs turn out to be be good (and work), it could be quite a bit cheaper.

Post

Most if not all of the free plugs installed are very good. (I had to do something while waiting for Colossus - lol) I think for what you are doing, you are going to love it.

Good luck and see ya round the forum

Yep -- If you can get Ben to respond to your PMs then you've no worries there mate!

;)

Just to follow up, apparently it is fixed -- and in the wee hours of Sunday morning, too. Although it was not my fault, perhaps I should have been less snippy about it, yeah? Sorry.

Post

How about that. I am glad you got her done.

Snippy ? Nah, they'll probably get over it and --- maybe it will help them get to the bottom of how the unregisterable (?? not sure about that word) units thing is happening.

Don't worry about it. We try to be very careful, but we are human, so we make mistakes. I still don't know how we had a few units going out without their serial numbers being entered, but we will fix it.
