Can anyone identify/explain what this is? Pedal noise or something else?
It's easily heard in audio demos 3,4, and 8. At first I thought it was a brush from a drum kit (that's what it sounds like to me), but there's no evidence of a drum playing anywhere else, so...
If it's something like pedal noise or sympathetic resonance, seems like it can be turned off, since I don't hear it in every demo.

Yes, it's the pedal noise. Of course it can be heard more on the close position and can be turned off in the preferences pane. But i really adds a lot to the feel of a real piano. Just take a listen to some Diana Krall piano intros and you will understand what i'm talking about
