nube question regarding clips

I have note info plus automation in a clip connected to Alchemy contained in a MUX which is then saved as a preset, should I expect the clip to contain the VST and the patch I was using at the time to be saved too or am I just being a daft old cnut ?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean...
I just checked a MUX containing a VST (ACE in this case), created a sequence, named the sequence and just dropped it in the browser as MuClip.
I quit Mulab and started it again, dropped the MuClip into the composer, acknowleded the Update of the Target module and it played as saved.
I did not save any MUX at all.
To summarize: The Mux is saved in it's current state at the moment you save the Muclip. Saving the Mux for other uses doesn't hurt though.
Some more experiments:
To add automation to that clip i assigned Cutoff of ACE to Meta Param1 of the MUX. Further i dropped the MUX onto the track header where the sequence sits. All this makes cutoff accessable in the piano roll editor. Add cutoff automation to the sequence and save as Muclip.
When loading the clip this time in a new session, the MUX is not in a rack, it sits in the Session MUX connected to the Master rack. (is that intentionally?)
Interestingly, you can drag the MUX into any rack and all plays well.
Does this help or do i talk rubbish?

Great help thanks, did exactly as you described and it worked then I saved another one and then I get the cant find plug error even when vst is in a mux.
I think all my confusion stems from that bug so just wait for an update.
Also I will study the stuff about automation you wrote as currently i can only get automation to record on a seperate track and then have to merge them ?

Is it possible to put a Musampla inside a Muclip and save it so midi, automation and a Musampla loop can be played as a clip ?
The one where it chops the loop and plays in tempo sync.
Can't seem to do it.

I can play samples from a rack within a MUX got that bit just the slicing which I so desire
Edit to explain..
Hoping I can get sliced up sample, automation, sequence and maybe some 1 shot audio clip type of stuff all in 1 Muclip.

If you are creative you can use multiple MIDI channels and a channel splitter in the connected MUX so to sequence different sounds within that single sequence. Please experiment, it's fun and enlightening

So a MuClip can only contain a single sequence? I was thinking it was more like Reasons blocks?
