Electric Piano

VST, AU, AAX, CLAP, etc. Plugin Virtual Instruments Discussion

Post

Hi, can anyone recommend a nice sounding electric piano plugin? I've tried a couple a few years back and couldn't find one that had a nice analog sound to it. I'm looking for one that has some settings, like tweaking sustain, overdrive, etc. I'm just getting back into writing/producing again and trying to build up a new set of instrument plugins. Thanks!

I am using Velvet. There is no demo now but I think AIR is working on making demos for all there plugins.

Cool, I'll check out Velvet. I did go on youtube and did a search for electric piano vst and got a lot of hits. One that really stood out was the Steinberg Neo Soul Keys. Very nice sounds!

There are also several freewares which are excellent. For examples:

XLN's Addictive Keys 'duo bundle' is on sale for $90US (usually $160US) - you can pick any two instruments (so you could go with their cp80 and rhodes). I use both and they're pretty decent, very tweakable.

In not too much expensive paywares you have also this excellent product from AAS:
  • Lounge Lizard EP-4 (currently half price, $89 instead of $199). The page of the product contains many examples and a loooooong video showing its resources.

You can't go wrong with Neo Soul Keys, anything from Jamal Hartwell is killing by sound.
Speaking of prices given above you can check the Pianoteq, you get a great grand piano for music production and there is a Rhodes piano also among many instruments. I did some recording with it and it mixed well into music.
Looking cheaper have some testing on GSi payware, I like the sound of MrRay73 freeware alone, but couldn't make it work inside a mix. MrRay73 mkII works better. His other stuff nice too.

I would recoomend GrandEpiano, it includes multi types of electric pianos, and have an EFX system, you can check it here

Another vote for Neo Soul Keys.
It's just so organic sounding!

Love AAS Lounge Lizard. Sounds great and has the possibility to produce new unheard e-pianos >> soundesign with unrealistic settings ;)

And it's not based on samples at all.

The Rhodes and Wurli for Pianoteq are additional components you have to buy. They're solid IMO, but Scarbee in Kontakt seems to fit the bill better for me. More bark. I've heard really good things about Lounge Lizard as well regarding Rhodes.

which version is best though - steinberg's halion powered one or the uvi powered one gospelmusicians sell direct (presume the uvi one is the newest - is it better sound-wise?)

I have AAS Lounge Lizard but (unfortunately) no where close to AIR Velvet IMHO. I did gey it on sale for $29.00 however... a far cry from $149.00!!!
