Is it me or MReverb has very short decay tail time. When I set it even to 30s the decay sounds more like 8 seconds. Any thoughts welcome!

Post

I have noticed the same thing. The tail seems much shorter than what the decay setting says.

Turn the damping all the way down to get longer tails.

True, it doesn't work very well really, it's pretty hard to make it all work while making the spatial positioning system work at the same time.
But the good news is that MTurboReverb is nearly done ;). There won't be spatial positioning, but lots of other stuff, and imho it sounds awesome :).

Cool! Looking forward to MTurboReverb!

My goal is to have a reverb plugin that sounds like MAGMA's PurpleVerb, without eating so many resources, but sounding as good with the modulation and so. Which sounds from outer space (I do ambient music).

:o

Now I am very curious! Looking forward to test it! :)

Mmmm. Tell us more. Before you talked about a reverb based on raytracing, is this it, or is that something else? Is this going to be like the other Turbo series, meaning it will be able to model other reverbs, or is it a completely new concept?

Post

Yeah, the turbos previously have been emulations. I'm hoping this is just a better, more interesting reverb rather than an emulation.

Either way, I'm looking forward to this!

But I hope it has Bricasti-quality and smoothness in it's tails :D

I was hoping this would drop this weekend :(

Anywho, looks like Fabfilter is about to drop their new reverb plugin too, Pro R.

Will be interesting to see how this, the melda one and Zynaptiq Adaptiverb all compare. I'll probably stick with the Melda one because of MXXX and the flexibility, but it'll be interesting to compare.

If MTurboReverb will follow the same concept as MTurboEQ and MTurboComp then there will be nothing new or innovative, just (more or less good) emulations which might be realised by switching IRs  So imo it would not be really comparable to Pro-R or Adaptiverb which are algorithmic and highly optimised on workflow and sound. They are based on real problems in music production and offer a possibility to solve them. Like seen in the teaser the fabfilter plugin has already shown at least one further developed feature.

The MTurbo series is a collection of copies (I have nothing against that, everybody has to decide that for itself :D I've decided to go with the originals) with high compromises to generate a common base & interface. That's why I can't go with these.
It runs on my machine! Everything else is undefined behavior.

Well, I tried the hyped adaptiverb and still don't see why so much goodness talk about it, it has ridiculous latency and and 1 instance uses 40-60% of my i7 3.33gHz. The best reverb I have right now is MAGMA's PurpleVerb, 0 latency and below 10% of cpu...

There are already lots of IRs in MConvolution that are emulations. I doubt very much that MTurboReverb will be IRs. Vojtech said he was working on a new algorithmic reverb.
If we look at MTurboComp, he had to make a super complex compressor in order for it to be able to emulate the data captured from machine learning. It ended up with fast easy to use emulations on the easy screen, with the most powerful compressor I have ever seen/used under the hood!
It would be nice if the same happened here with MTurboReverb.

I also did not get the Adaptiverb Hype, haha. By the way, just in case you (or the others) did not know: Valhalla offers unbelievable great reverbs with superb sound, low prices and very low CPU consumption. Long time I switched to 2cAudio Breeze, but some month ago, I switched back to Valhalla Room for orchestral reverberation. I even got Valhalla Plate, which offers huge and lush verbs - great for ambiences. Loving them. So I am really curious about MTurboVerb! I use nearly everything from Meldaproduction for all my effects ... except the reverb. :( ... well I like MReverb for ER positioning though with the late verb disabled. :)
