Sampling through side-chain input (VST3)

Are there any plans to implement sampling through side chain input on the VST3 version of the plugin? That's how Halion samples.
Thank you for your consideration.

What would be the difference? Using side-chain instead of input only makes sense if you ever do something else with said inputs, but sampling them is the only use for in in TX.

The difference is it is currently not possible at all to sample with tx16wx in Cubase.
There is no way to route the audio inputs to vst instruments in Cubase without using their side chain inputs.

EDIT: This comment is incorrect. See the correction below.
If I recall correctly (I don't use Cubase myself), this problem is due to the fact that Cubase no longer supports VST2, and VST3 doesn't allow instruments to have main (not sidechain) audio inputs. In that case, someone must have figured out a workaround by now. Could you use the VST3 version of a plugin chainer like Blue Cat Patchwork to host the VST2 version of TX16Wx?

Cubase still works with VST2 without issues. Thing is, it is and was never possible to route audio to vst instruments in Cubase - regardless of whether you used VST2 or VST3.rrichard63 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 1:20 pm If I recall correctly (I don't use Cubase myself), this problem is due to the fact that Cubase no longer supports VST2, and VST3 doesn't allow instruments to have main (not sidechain) audio inputs. Thank you for correcting my mistake. I'm still curious about workarounds. Are you saying that no one has ever figured out a way around this limitation?

Just to jump in with a question: Are you saying NO VST3's allow Audio input? I'm having trouble getting TX16WX to receive audio on the input bus in Tracktion/Waveform and I see it is classified as VST3; I wonder if that's part of my problem?
**Edit **
I re-installed TX16WX and made sure to specify it is a VST (not VST3) but that made no difference - still can't get the audio input to work.

"Audio inputs for VST instruments
The VST3 interface expands VST instruments by adding the ability to create audio input busses. As a result, audio data can be routed to an VST3 instrument. A synthesizer which has a built-in e.g. vocoder effect is able to process audio data coming in from other sources as well."

I only know in Cubase it works only, when there is a sidechain input provided with the vst3 instrument. It could be because of how the routing in Cubase is designed.

VST3 standard absolutely allows instruments to have audio inputs. As does VST2. As to what shenanigans cubase/hosts are up to... The thing about standards is that _all_ sides are supposed to adhere to them, not just the plug-in creators...
As a note: the only difference of a "side-chain" and main input (aux vs. main) is a flag in the info structure provided by the plug-in. There is no magic routing or anything.

TX16Wx 3.4.0q now marks the inputs as "AUX" (and deals with all the other weird stuff this entails in Cubase). So routing an audio track to TX input should now be possible. Sorry for the delay, but Steinberg did not open C11 trial downloads until a few days ago (and no other either).
