I must have a setting screwed up somewhere. When I record a clip the finished clip has a space of no signal inserted at the beginning. The stretch of "dead air" varies in length dependent upon how long the clip is. If it is a short clip the dead space is short. If the clip is long, the space before the recorded audio shows up is long. Wassup with Dat? Thanks for any help you can offer this newbie.

Hello! Perhaps your situation can be caused by the "Trigger Level" parameter of your input channel. You can check it out. If the value of this parameter is too high, recording will only start when the input signal can overcome this trigger value.
Click on your input channel, and on the bottom bar find this option.
