Steel Strings on existing MIDI track

I am using Reaper and have a MIDI track recorded with another guitar VST. I removed that VST FX and loaded Orangetree Steel Strings via the Kontact player but cannot figure out how to get the track to play the selected Steel Strings preset. I like the original recorded performance and but not the guitar VST I first used. Any help is appreciated,

I would advise watching the Orange Tree Tuts and similar vids as every manufacturer has their method of making the pretend playing. There is no standards as such for how to make em jive.

Is Kontakt / Evolution Steel Strings not responding at all to the MIDI you originally were playing through the other guitar VST? If that's the case, I wonder if it's a matter of the MIDI data being on a different MIDI channel than what Evolution Steel Strings is expecting. It might be worth setting the MIDI input channel in the header portion above Evolution Steel String's UI to "Omni" just to test that theory.
