Orion Platinum v5.8 released

Synapse Audio

Synapse Audio has released Orion Platinum v5.8 featuring several new features and enhancements.

Styles are a new important concept introduced in Orion Platinum 5.8. A pattern and a preset can now be stored together as a Style. This means, you can share complete sequences between songs, and mix different stuff together more easily. If you load a drum style for instance, the sample data, all settings and a pattern is loaded. Thus with one click you can create or modify a complete groove or sequence in your song. Apart from composing, this feature is essential for using Orion live on stage as well. Orion ships with styles for each internal tone generator, so you can get started instantly.

New Effects
A new professional delay effect has been added to the effects section, that creates diffuse echoes rather than the usual digital "comb filter" echoes, thus sounding more realistic. It also features L/R time controls, both automatically sync'ed to tempo, plus a brightness control for the echoes. The new hard limiter effect added in v5.8 combines a traditional limiter with a clipper, resulting in a brickwall limiter that comes in handy in both channel or master inserts.

Other Improvements
Orion now supports non-12 tone systems (via SCALA text file import). This means any arbitrary tuning model can be loaded and shared across all internal generators.

The sampler has been extended with a couple of features long sought after. LFO Delay/Attack parameters have been added to both LFOs, and internal effects have been added for better EMU SoundFont SF2 support.

The Screamer synth has been extended with a great sounding 24dB lowpass resonant filter, and a couple of new presets have been added.
