Reflex Acoustics has released the Reflex Limiter, a free, lightweight plugin designed to be quick to configure, with features such as automatic input and output gain-staging.
They say:
The plugin employs a fast-acting look-ahead compressor in series with a clipper. The compressor alone does not necessarily limit peaks, but it reduces workload for the clipper and allows for a cleaner sound.
The device can also be pushed hard and made to produce crunchy distortion on individual tracks or buses.
Features:
- 6db to +18db Pre-Gain.
- Controls for compressor timing and knee, and clipper softness.
- Compressor and clipper can be independently deactivated.
- Auto Ceiling option sets the output threshold relative to your signal peaks, so that the Ceiling dial now controls how many decibels are removed from peaks—regardless of incoming level.
- Optional 2x oversampling.
- Optional Matched-LUFS output for A/B testing or for using the device as a LUFS-neutral effect.
- Unlinked Left & Right channel processing.
The free download is available from reflex-acoustics.com
VST3 and AU formats for PC and Mac are currently supported, with AAX coming soon.
