Softube releases Model 80 Five Voice Synthesizer

Softube have announced the release of Model 80 Five Voice Synthesizer, an exacting emulation of the industry-defining five-voice polyphonic synth from 1980.

The first synthesizer with a digital microprocessor to control the analog polyphonic synth engine and store sounds, this synth has graced hits from superstars such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, Radiohead, The Cars, and countless others.

Softube has fully modeled every detail of the circuit of the synth for sounds, interactions, and performance that are as close to the hardware unit as possible. Included are the original factory presets, heard on many classic recordings, which allow producers to swiftly interact with these famous sounds instead of reconstructing them.

The Voice Mod section captures the modulation, sound, and feel of the hardware, while the added Invert Voice Mod button provides additional modulation envelopes not found with the original. These features and essential workflow enhancements – like Voice Pan Spread, quantize filter cutoff, and velocity and aftertouch modulation – provide an authenticity that integrates seamlessly into modern productions.

  • Five modules for use in Softube Modular.
  • Aging knob to add additional "wear" to the instrument.
  • Added Voice Pan Spread to take the sound from a mono to a stereo spread of the five voices.
  • Invert Voice Mod button for additional modulation possibilities.
  • Quantize semitone filter cutoff frequency captures the original performance of the hardware, but can also be turned off for smooth performance.
  • Selectable DAW (Tempo) sync or free running LFO to clock the global modulation section.
  • Added velocity and aftertouch controls for modern performance expression.

Model 80 is available now from Softube as a time limited intro offer for $99($159).
