Solid State Logic (SSL) has announced the next generation of its USB audio interfaces, the SSL 2 MKII and SSL 2+ MKII. Building upon their predecessors, these new interfaces offer improvements in audio performance and features, catering to both seasoned professionals and those just starting their musical journey.
At the heart of the MKII series are newly designed mic preamps boasting 64dB of gain and a dynamic range of 116.5dB. The interfaces also feature upgraded 32-bit/192kHz converters, ensuring pristine audio quality for both recording and monitoring.
The 2+ retains the Legacy 4K Analogue Enhancement circuit, inspired by the SSL 4000 series consoles. This feature claims to add a touch of classic analogue character to your sound, providing a subtle harmonic distortion and a boost in the high frequencies.
For guitarists and bassists, the MKII series includes two front-panel hi-Z instrument inputs, making it easy to capture recordings of your instruments. Dual headphone outputs with independent volume controls (on the SSL 2+ MKII) allow for separate artist and producer mixes.
The SSL 2+ MKII expands on the SSL 2 MKII with the addition of MIDI I/O for connecting controllers and instruments, and DC-coupled outputs for controlling modular synthesizers via CV. Both models include a stereo loopback function, ideal for streamers and content creators.
Both the SSL 2 MKII and SSL 2+ MKII come bundled with the comprehensive SSL Production Pack. This software suite includes a collection of virtual instruments, effects plugins, samples, and a three-month subscription to the Complete Access Bundle from SSL.
