Solid State Logic (SSL) has a rich history spanning 50 years, evolving from manufacturing switching systems for pipe organs to becoming a global leader in audio consoles and creative tools.
In the 1970s and 1980s, SSL revolutionized the music recording industry with their SL 4000 series consoles, which dominated professional studios for decades. In the 1990s, they introduced SuperAnalogue design and expanded into digital technology with the C Series digital consoles for broadcast and production, as well as the innovative AWS and Duality consoles, combining analog and digital technology.
In recent years, SSL has continued to innovate with new products like Sigma, Fusion, SiX, and ORIGIN, as well as their range of audio plugins which includes emulations of their classic hardware, such as the 4k E Channel Strip, Bus Compressor and Fusion Series processors. These plugins bring the legendary SSL sound right to your DAW.

Got it on sale for $8, I like it better than Decapitator on busses and the master. Recommended, especially when on discount.

Got it after comparing with other (bus) compressors including smart:comp, in the end it just sounded better. Not sure if experienced people need the AI feature, for me it is great.
A great subgen!
It can like a lot of other subgenerators certainly be very brutal - but I'm very pleased to use it on acoustic material that lacks a little bottom. Because it works with four frequency bands that can be quite narrow (or wide and even overlapping), you can add just that little extra that brings out a double bass or a bass drum in the mix without the sounds feeling artificial or dominant.
In addition, you can tame the sub frequencies with a smart compressor plus the plug has a saturation drive.
The music I work with doesn't require the thunderous, brutal dance bass, so none of the other sub generators have really appealed to me. But this one brings out the acoustic feel from a recording that's a bit too bass-poor. After testing the plug for a couple of days, I bought it.
I own most of the SSL X series and a few of the 360 plugins, and X-comp is immediately my very favorite bus limiter for most projects. If you A/B test the sound signature of this limiter vs for example the native steinberg limiter, the bx_limiter, BWS 5.2.7 native limiter, or NI's limiter, especially when gluing a mix, the X-limiter has a noticeable 'sweetness' and 'musicality' to the sound post-process that is not as prominent in other (simpler, less dynamic) limiters Ive used.
I do not own any hardware approximations of these plugins nor do I have too many other brands in my library, but the few widely used limiters I have do not sweeten or glue the sound as well as this. The visual waveform display with color mapped limiter activity is a really nice visual way to check on your mix as well, and I really appreciate the sound signature, UI/UX, and processing load of these plugins. 5 stars for sure.

I've been involved with playing and producing music for a very long time and I grew up in the analog world before a gradual progression to working ITB...
There's always a little hardware involved to get the signals into the DAW, but for many reasons, I much prefer the flexibility of the digital domain...
The two most important tools for me are EQs and compressors and I'm a fan of good channel strips...
Over the years, I've tried a lot of different effects plugins and there are some great choices out there...
So when I tried the new version of the SSL Channel Strip, I was expecting it to be good....
And it is...
I dropped it into a few channels of an existing project and immediately felt an openness in the top end and a clarity in the bottom...
A few touches here and there and things were sitting in the mix like never before and it was quite a revelation...
Using this channel strip has been really inspiring and extremely productive...
I read up on the SSL 9000 consoles and everything I heard is what people like Michael Brauer have been saying for years...
The sound is more transparent and less compressed in the mids than the 4K and 6K consoles and the EQ is more like a Focusrite ISA-110 to me...
So what is the verdict here ?
Well...this is a great channel strip....
A comprehensive EQ, compressor, expander and gate in a zero latency plugin with a sound that is so damn good that it feels like your ears have been unblocked...
5 Stars to the guys at SSL...

My only gripe with this is it can't externally side-chain. I have however emailed them and suggested the external side-chain feature for the development team.
A welcome return of the legendary Listen Mic Compressor.
I was a huge fan of SSL's previous LMC-1 compressor—a wonderful freebie that they mysteriously killed after only a couple of years on the market. Up until now, the LMC could only be found as a minor component on their Duende software. But now, it's available to all.
SSL really upped the features on this version; the user has complete control over the signal, and it's good to see developers not be so beholden to the limitations of the original (much like Overloud's excellent Gem Mod emulation).
This is one of my favourite compressors, and is getting a heavy workout on drums, guitars, and parallel processing on vocals. Get it now.
