2RuleSynth is a software synthesizer with classical synthesis techniques - subtraction, FM and Ring. It has LFOs and ADSR for every two independent oscillators. It has its own characteristic soundscape that can go as far as concrete music. Besides the familiar classical analog sounds, experimental sounds can be found using the randomize button:

  • 2 Independent Oscillators.
  • Waveforms: Sine, Saw, Triangle, Square, White Noise.
  • Controls: Waveform, Volume, Fine-Tune, Octave.
  • Each Oscillators has its own filter, amp and filter ADSR and LFOs.
  • ADSR Controls: Depth, Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release.
  • LFOs for amp, filter and pitch syncable to tempo.
  • Ring algorithm Osc1 x Osc2.
  • FM modulator Oscillator 1 modulates Oscillator 2.
  • Self resonance Moog type filter Low Pass, High Pass, Band Pass for each oscillator.
  • Mono/Polyphonic control.
  • Spectrum and Wave Windows.
  • Reverb.
  • Delay syncable to tempo.
  • Chorus.
  • Waveshape distortion.
  • 8 note polyphonic operation.
  • Preset randomize button.
  • 49 factory presets (some suitable for Musique concrète).

Well, okay, LOL*.

I am not sure if this project is done or in Progress, but i see potional in this Synth...

it is a nice, little, easy, rough and cool Freeware Synth, there is a "don't know special classic" synthesis happening, with FM, Ringmod and such Algorithms for 2 OSC's with Basic Waveshapes incl. Noise on OSC 1.

The most fun is the randomization .

Selfoscillating Filters are pretty cool but also very simple, just 3 Types (LP, BP, HP). I like the Parameter edit per Mouswheel and double-click for Resets Knobs. The Algorithms (FM, WF (Wavefolder?), Ringmod) is affecting a bit too decent. The Volume-Knob there, is that not (should it not better be) a MIX-Knob into original signal path? Because its irritating this Volume Knob works like a Master Volume also, but why in this Section? The Wave Window is mostly over the Limits.

Interessting, if booth OSC Volume is OFF then Ringmod still works (like Hardware right?). WF Dist seems not work correctly in this previous mentioned case it acts like a switch in the full open position, so iam not sure about it.

But here is List i want to see:

Version/ Build Number in the Plugin.

Resize.

Show Parameter Values in LFO (Hz and sync).

OSC Phase.

Better Presets Management and Browser.

Save as (selected) and Save as New (always new).

Intesity Fader vor the Wave FRQ Preview.

If an OSC is off, lets us show that it is off (like fade out orange lines if OCS 2 Volume is zero).

Put the FX in one Row.

Allow us FX routing (Reverb before Delay).

More Modulations would be nice.

OSC 1 has NOISE but, we want to modify this Noise (i think we want this, i am not sure).

Separate Master Volume from the Algo-Section.

Yeah*.

cheers*.

Thank you 2Rule.

As a plug in developer, I am very glad to hear all these suggestions. I am aware of what is missing from 2RuleSynth. Your suggestions are very helpful and true. I was already thinking about what I could change these days. Dealing with audio algorithm is much easier than dealing with GUI, from my point of view. Layout organization is the most time consuming thing in GUI for me. I will work on your suggestions. Thank you very much.Tuğrul (2Rule).

Doesn't work (at least with logic pro on Catalina).

Logic is unable to validate that plugin.

Hi, qazar39 I have checked 2RuleSynth with garageband running on Catalina, everything seemed to be working smoothly. there was no problem. Since I hon't have Logic Pro I have tried to download the demo version of it. But Apple does not permit to install to Catalina since the demo is for Big Sure. So I have'nt found any posssibiliy to check with Logic Pro. Best wishes Tuğrul

What cool free synth ! I love the random button (should be on every plugin..).

The sound is good, the interface is clear, not particularly nice, but functional.

I definitively will use it in my productions .

thanks 2RULE .

Wow! I haven't seen a synthesizer with such a soft and pleasant sound for a long time! It seems that filters and generators are a bit bewitched) Although random button almost never gives good keys, leads, basses, but very often generates just fantastic Sci-Fi FX! Imho, it definitely stands out from the general mass of modern synthesizers and is ideal for space themes!).

Hi 2Rule, .

there seems to be a bug in 2RuleSynth (v1.1) with Reaper. Since there are no arrow-buttons to browse presets, I tried Reaper's preset browsing function. That would work in principle, but the preset name in the synth do not change accordingly. Also a preset I saved myself does not appear in Reaper's drop down menu.

However, when I chose 'Program 1' (as opposed to 'Preset 1') from Reaper's drop down menu, Reaper crashed reproducibly on my computer (Win10).

Sorry, I cant add screenshots here. PM me, if you need them.

Cheers.

Hi SeBear.

I have checked the case with Reaper for mac and windows, It is true that Reaper can not show the presets of the 2RuleSynth. At reaper browsing Combobox the preset list is empty.

But by pressing + (reaper) I can save the preset in the DAW Reaper. I can change the program using the Dropdown menu of Reaper (different preset list) and 2RuleSynth Dropdown menu .

Could you please provide more detailed information?

Thanks, Sincerly.

Tuğrul.
