It is one of the oldest instruments played all around the world with many names (jew's harp, guimbarde, Maultrommel, scacciapensieri, arpa de boca, temir komuz, a??z kopuzu, damboi, kubing, khomus, changu, etc. and without mentioning all the unnumbered variations in the Far East where the iron is replaced by the bamboo).
