Doffset is a free software plugin effect. It is a lightweight tool that corrects DC offset in a signal. It also removes inaudible low-frequency biases.
Audio signals often contain DC offset. DC offset is often not easy to recognize when using an audio editor. Offset correction can reduce the magnitude of a signal while maintaining its loudness. Having a reduced signal magnitude creates more headroom, and this, in turn, allows for higher overall volume levels on the track.
Doffset is specially designed to both minimize any coloration to the signal and at the same time respond quickly to any DC offset present in the signal. It offers three modes of operation, each giving a slightly different trade-off between bass response and zero DC convergence time.
This simply works, period. On occasions where DC offset gets introduced through effects processing, or as part of the original signal, Doffset works totally transparently to strip the problem aspect of the signal out. Other than that, it does nothing...which is precisely what you want! I've reached for it numerous times when a rogue plugin has generated a DC offset, and every time, it gets the job done. I'd describe it as pretty essential for those who do a lot of sound design, heavy mix processing, and the like.
