A Rare EQ with a Distinct Sonic Flavor

The Eminence plugin includes an ultra-rare, 1960s British 3-band EQ, which was famously used in one of the most mythical worldwide broadcast studios. It was produced and developed at a time when record labels and companies maintained their own recording studios, going so far as to design and build most of their own equipment.

Fat, Crunchy Compression

A "Frankenstein" compressor that fuses two different, old-school, solid state dynamic processors in one (591: optical compressor – 612: FET limiter), which were created by a renowned U.S. audio electronics company.

A little Bit of History: About the EQ Unit

The EQ design of this unit is a contemporary of one of the most famous British consoles of all time. Originally built in the 1960s, there are only a few left in the world.

This particular EQ module was one of the last hand-wound point-to-point component EQs produced by a famous broadcasting corporation before they outsourced all their console production to other major manufacturers, switching from germanium transistor technology to silicon.

This EQ is one of the last of a series of germanium EQs, which are extremely rare and nearly impossible to find today. The sampled hardware came from a broadcast console from Bush House in central London, and it is currently located at the Atom Heart Studio in Italy owned by Corrado Rizzone.

Thanks to the exclusive access that we were given to the original hardware, this special EQ has now been faithfully reproduced in the digital realm in our Cream Acqua plugin.
