Harmony Box is a synthesizer that has the rules of modal jazz built-in; you press a key, it plays the right chord. You just pick the key and the mode. An alias-free oscillator drives a self-oscillating filter and it has LFOs and Envelopes for fatness.

Works fine in Mixcraft. A great idea here, really great - what it does it does well, and I applaud whoever came up with this idea. But this is far too limiting IMO. Only one voice, and it's not like you can play something here and it records (in MIDI) the actual chords. That means if you want to use another VSTi to get a diff sound instead of the one and only sound built in (a basic electric piano-y sound), or even want to see what freaking chords are that are actually playing, too bad, you can't. You're "stuck" with this. If you're fine with that, no problem, and it can still be useful to sketch out ideas quickly and easily, esp if you're music theory challenged :) I just wish it had more flexibility and visibility into what it's doing.

does this work on ableton 10? i tried and so far no luck.
It doesn't work properly. You have to find "trial and error" the root note of any scale you want to use. the only correct scale are C and Am. For example, if you want C# Dorian you have to set de plugin in B Dorian, and always in absolute mode. One could think "it's about to move a tome". Right in the case of Dorian, but not for the rest. In any case you have to see the difference... But nice jazzy sound.
