Planer, a robust audio clipping tool, offers precise control over the clipping process. It effectively manages audio dynamics and prevents audio-signal distortion by reducing transient levels when the input signal exceeds a predefined threshold.

Planer seamlessly transitions between hard-limiting and smooth soft-saturation due to its customizable transfer function. Additionally, its broad oversampling range, from 16x to 256x, ensures consistent and reliable true peak clipping performance.

Oversampling is vital in clipper plugins to reduce distortion and aliasing artefacts caused by clipping. It enhances audio quality by accurately capturing high-frequency content and minimizing aliasing distortion, resulting in cleaner clipping effects.

Aliasing, a major source of unpleasant distortion in digital processing, occurs when harmonics are introduced above the Nyquist limit. Since clippers inherently add numerous harmonics, oversampling is necessary to increase the sample rate significantly.

When Planer is used at 256 times oversampling, aliasing is reduced to -150 dB (the dynamic range of 24-bit audio is -144 dB), making it virtually inaudible.
