The Solid State Logic UltraViolet EQ is a 500 Series stereo equalizer that takes the acclaimed Violet EQ from the Fusion analog processor and expands its functionality for even greater tonal control. This module provides a clean, musical, and intuitive approach to equalization, making it a perfect tool for shaping stereo stems, instruments, and the entire mix bus. Unlike vintage-style EQs designed to add heavy coloration, the UltraViolet EQ is engineered for minimum phase shift and maximum precision, allowing you to make significant tonal adjustments without smearing the original signal's integrity. It's a modern SSL EQ designed for the demands of contemporary production.

The UltraViolet EQ is a four-band, dual-mono/stereo equalizer. It features two shelving bands for the high and low frequencies, each offering four selectable frequency points for broad, musical tone-shaping. The real power of the module lies in its two fully parametric mid-bands, an enhancement over the original Fusion's two-band design. Each mid-band has a sweepable frequency control, a +/- 9dB gain control, and a 'Focus' switch. The Focus switch narrows the Q (bandwidth) of the selected band, transforming it from a broad, musical tool into a precise, surgical instrument perfect for notching out problem frequencies or highlighting specific resonant characteristics of a sound. This makes the UltraViolet EQ incredibly versatile for both creative enhancement and corrective tasks.

A key feature of the module is its stereo operation. A 'mono sum' switch allows you to quickly check your mix for phase issues. For even more advanced control, a five-step High-Pass Filter is included to clean up low-end mud and create headroom in your mix. The controls are clearly laid out and operate on stepped pots, making settings easy to recall for mastering applications. If you're looking for a clean, precise, and highly musical stereo equalizer that can handle everything from gentle sweetening on the mix bus to detailed sculpting of individual stereo sources, the SSL UltraViolet EQ is an exceptional and powerful choice.
