Wavefield - A Wavetable-Driven Spectral Filter

Wavefield is a brand new type of spectral filter plugin that uses animated wavetables as filter curves. Instead of automating fixed-band filters to get modulation, you load a wavetable and its waveform shape becomes the filter shape, and the wavetable position modulates in real time for dramatic surface-shaping of the entire audio spectrum.

Three Processing Modes

Magnitude maps wavetable frame shapes directly to per-bin FFT gain curves, giving you precise, animated spectral shaping with no phase artifacts. Phase Warp is a variation of magnitude mode that applies frequency-dependent phase rotation with harmonic dispersion, adding slightly detuned, metallic and alien timbres. Spectral IR treats each wavetable frame as an impulse response and convolves it with the spectrum, producing the dense, smeared character of convolution filtering.

Wavetable Position Modulation

Wavetable position can be modulated four ways: free-running LFO, host tempo sync (with standard note divisions), a step sequencer that jumps between keyframe positions with optional gating, or manual pin mode for user-controlled or automated position. Playback direction is switchable between forward, reverse, and ping-pong, with a random mode for unpredictability. Start and end trim points let you constrain playback to any range within the table.

Stereo Mode

A proprietary stereo processing mode creates frequency-dependent width by offsetting the L and R channels to different positions in the wavetable simultaneously. The result is a stereo image that evolves with the filter movement - not a width knob, not mid-side processing, something that doesn't exist in any other plugin - and it's mono-compatible.

Wavetable Editor

Wavefield includes a built-in wavetable editor with support for up to 20 keyframes per wavetable cycle. Draw custom frame shapes directly into any keyframe using a set of drawing tools, and Wavefield interpolates smoothly between them to generate the full wavetable. A library of waveform presets is available within the editor — filter sweeps, formant shapes, FM-derived spectral envelopes, vowel morphs, and more — as starting points for any keyframe. The plugin also includes a separate main preset system for saving and recalling complete plugin states.

Additional Controls

Skew warps the frequency mapping of the filter curve toward the lows or highs. Floor sets the minimum gain for filtered bins, controlling how aggressively the filter cuts. Safe Bass bypasses processing below a selectable frequency threshold to protect low-end integrity. Spectral Smooth reduces Gibbs ringing artifacts from steep filter edges. An upstream latency compensation knob (chain offset) corrects PDC for DAWs that do not automatically account for upstream plugin latency in an insert chain. Transport Link locks Wavefield's processing to your DAWs transport position for deterministic and repeatable playback. Parameter lock lets you keep settings while auditioning different wavetables. Drag and drop of .wav files is supported for importing existing wavetables or creating custom ones. Dry/wet and output gain controls included, and a transparent limiter to keep spectral boosts from exceeding 0dB.
