I'm a musician, producer, and internet uncle who's been making music in one way or another for the past 30 years. I'm into open source, and I love sharing tips and tricks. These days, I mostly do that on my YouTube channel, which mainly focuses on Bitwig and plugins. Musically, I'm somewhere between ambient and drum & bass, but I'm open to lots of other styles too. I'm really into tools that make the impossible possible, or that help people make music even without a big budget.
I used to release music on various labels, mostly Drum & Bass. I actually started making music back in the '90s with Trackers on my Amiga, Fruity Loops (yep, it was still called that back then, probably version 0.8 or something), Music Maker, Acid, Hammerhead, SimSynth and RubberDuck. My dad played drums and at some point gave me a synthesizer, which definitely helped kick things off.
When computers started becoming more of a thing in the '90s, I jumped right into making music with them. At the time, it was still kind of frowned upon, people would say you couldn't really make "proper" music unless you had hardware gear or worked in a studio. Producing entirely inside a computer was still super new. CPUs weren't very powerful yet, and DAWs weren't anywhere near as advanced as they are now. No VST instruments or plugins back then either, that all came way later.
I pretty much went through every stage of software evolution: started with Reason in the early days, used Logic back when it was still made by E-Magic for PC, then later on Mac, and eventually switched over to Cubase. Somewhere along the way, I discovered Bitwig, and that's where I finally felt at home. I'm still using it today.
Bitwig also inspired me to start a YouTube channel where I talk about my experiences, share tips and tricks, and just generally nerd out on music production stuff. I'm still doing that, and I'm still having a blast.
Over time, my hobby actually turned into my full-time job. I used to make a living doing web design, but now it's all Patreon and YouTube, and it works really well for me. Of course, I still make music too. You can find all of it on Bandcamp. Like I mentioned earlier, I'm really into Drum'n'Bass, but I also dabble in ambient and sometimes like to mix the two.
So yeah, this is my profile on KVR. Still figuring out what exactly I'll do with it, but I'll definitely be sharing my stuff here. Maybe I'll even put up a few of my own products, I've made plenty of Bitwig presets, so maybe I'll find a place for those here too.
